Duke: It was really his own fault. I caught him breaking in... Leo: Man, what a mess! What'd you use, Duke, an M-60? Duke: Accidents happen, Leo. I hope I can trust you to keep this little mishap to yourself... Leo: Hey, have we ever let you down before, Duke? Remember that time I came out here and pumped out that lady's stomach? You never heard another word about that, did you? Duke: I'm hearing it right now, Leo. Leo: Hey, man, this dude's unconscious. That's going to be extra.

That’s okay, Duke. He’ll forget it. Well, until he needs to remember it, of course…

Did people use LEO for “law enforcement officer” in the ’70s or is his name just a coincidence?

Duke must have quite an arrangement with Leo.

At the time, this seemed outrageous— a homeowner blasting away at an intruder. Now, just another day.

i think Leo is pre EMT, back when pumping stomachs was a skill, and apparently, just a driver, at that because you would think another guy would be required to hang out in back with the patient to treat, and not just to pizza. Leo is in a category all his own

Mrs Vexman again. i stand corrected, according to Wikipedia, and this did refresh my memory:"EMT program in the United States began as part of the “Alexandria Plan” in the early 70’s, in addition to a growing issue with injuries associated with car accidents. "but i know pumping stomaches was not protocolhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_medical_technician

Too bad Duke’s aim wasn’t better, since Zeke could best have served the world by leaving it…….

Funny memory – in the early 70’s, I dated a woman from Tulsa, and it always amused me that the ambulance services there were owned and run by – the funeral homes!

Extra because Zeke is unconscious? I was thinking which way could that go, but we know Zeke is still around, so it didn’t go that way…

I lived in Jacksonville, FL (Duval County) in the early 70s. They were the first to use EMT/Paramedic service in conjunction with the Fire Department. It was so successful that they made a documentary about it, “Sirens in the Night”. A bit of trivia; in 68, the city and county merged and became the largest city in the US. It still is the largest in the lower 48. (Not “urban area”, actual city limits).

Zeke isn’t unconscious. He passed out. Duke gave him a beer while waiting for Leo. …. And Stupidhead drank it cause he wanted to replace his fluids since he was bleeding everywhere.
