Life guard: I appreciate your candor, senator, but the sign doesn't refer to your character.
Caption: Why honestly is a presidential campaign killer.
Sign reads: SHALLOW DEEP
If just being ‘all wet’ would pass, but the inability to step into the fray is pathetic. How does the guy expect to govern? Or maybe he just follows the lobbyists orders.
Mr. Miller: have been binging on an older, relatively minor episodic t.v. show that included Dabney Coleman as a successful lawyer. Spent more than a few moments wondering if certain camera profiles figured in your cartoon depictions. ;)
The best way to tell someone is unfit for office? They’re running for it. Those best qualified for power don’t want it, those least qualified do want it.
I remember when Mondale made that speech, and I just groaned. Because it immediately made him unelectable. Of course Bush was going to raise taxes. Back then, we actually felt responsible to pay off deficits. And more importantly, both sides knew how to compromise to make things happen. The trick was getting elected, and to do that you couldn’t do what Mondale did. You had to say what was necessary and then do what was needed once you won. But that was a very different time, when folks would actually take governing seriously. Now we have people who pledge to outside money instead of the electorate. And what that money has bought is todays catastrophe.
He seems to have jumped into the pool voluntarily — still wearing his suit. Must have been walking by and saw the instruction — this side for “shallow” people and the other for people who have some depth.Any other ideas guys?

If it did, all of Congress would be there, the President, all politicians, really. Oh, and the news media, too.

Although he sort of resembles Nixon I suspect he is more generic than that.

Wiley did this one 20 years ago, as well, np950527.jpg, but without the presidential reference. Running out of ideas or just reprising classics? :-)
