Mom: "How'd it go at the gym?"
Brad: "Good. I worked dad pretty hard for the mud run"
Mom: "How far is the run, anyway?"
Brad: "Just 5k"
Mom: "So he'll make it to the end?"
Brad: "Well, let's see if her can make it to the house..."
I honestly believe that Frank is headed for heart attack city here. This does not look good at all. He’s not a young guy, and I think he needed to start off with much less intense of a routine. Not to be a constant bore on this topic, but I really hope that Brad is up to date on his CRP certification.
Heh, heh- looks like Frank must’ve “taken a shower” with his clothes on…. – Frank would probably argue: “That’s not sweat… my body is just crying tears of joy…”
Hmmm… 5 kilometers? Roughly equivalent to 3.1 miles. Not as easy as "Pi"… – Everybody (and every body ) is different, but it’s not always “automatic” to be able to walk/run that distance at one time, without stopping. Even if relatively fit ….especially if there are “variables”, such as hills/inclines and dips/steps along the way. And in a Mud Run, there are actual obstacles varying in size/type of challenge and degree of difficulty, relative to a person’s own “physical skills” (which are different from a person’s “level of fitness”)…
WHY don’t You take some of that “Warehouse/Art House” money that’s burning a Large Hole in Your Pocket, and Make a DONATION to Whatever Cause the 5K Mud Race is for and CALL It A Day?
Your Heart and Your Wobbly Legs Will THANK You For It.
“Trained Wreck”“Hack And Sacked”“Wax On… Wax Off”“The Fit Ness Monster”“Body Of Worked”“A Ticked Off Ticker”“Conditional Formatting”“An Object At Rest”“What Happens At The Gym, Stays At The Gym”“The Be All, End-ure”“Fit As A Fiddle Double Bass”or “Gone With The Winded”
I’m waiting for the July 4th family picnic. Frank & Nancy, Brad & Tony, Luann (Quill maybe in New York already). Luann doesn’t look so good. Nancy. Asks what’s wrong. Luann says, “I think I feel….sick…” Uh-Oh…
Frank will no doubt try to put on a brave face once he makes it to the house. Nancy should then act properly solicitous for his well-being and suggest, ever so gently, that maybe he should leave the actual race to Brad….
Happy 4th to all! Haven’t been on recently as I’ve been busy having my old townhouse sold and clearing it out for closing. Next, I’ll be looking to build on a site in my new state of Florida!
Also, I have to admit this wasn’t the worlds most interesting arc this past week or so… I dunno, maybe Frank reminds me too much of me… ;-PPP
Mud runs are made for people who have never had the pleasure of being in the US Marine Corps or the US Army where the drill sergeants would run us through the obstacles and yell at us – all free of charge.
I run half marathons and marathons and am much older than the cartoon character – who looks only to be in his mid-40s.
Sports, farm life, and military service makes a person tough.
If Frank let Brad lie about all his weight like he did on the overset leg press machine, Brad will probably achieve his agenda in controlling his parents and screwing up his father’s life.
Brad set a goal for himself through exercise, why can’t Frank?Did anyone tell Brad he was humiliating himself?Did anyone else sabotage his workout?Brad is being a d-bag here.
Is there ANYONE here who could not have written out the end of this arc on Tuesday as well (or better) than this?.Who is writing this now? It’s getting to be a waste of time looking here.

Frank won’t be able to move in the morning.

Frank should keep moving until he gets in the house, if his muscles tighten up he might not be able to get out of the car.

Anyone actually doing this to their dad would have to be terminally stupid — or patricidal.
