    Not to get political, but this brings up the point that often occurs to me. There really should be two definitions of marriage – one religious and one legal. You should be able to get married in either one or those or both. In reality, the government has no business being involved in marriage. Discuss.

    Agree NoCents. Unfortunately too many folks believe we are a theocracy The US is a Secular Democratic Republic, & religion of any stripe has no place in secular matters of state!

    Sometimes I think the government should just stop granting any sort of benefit for marriage. That would solve the demand for “equality.”

    Marriage is strange. It’s a legal contract, but the only one in which the terms are not spelled out for either party.
