I kind of like winter when it gets dark at 6:00…When it’s dark you go to bed…With some pillows, a lap top and books …..Go to bed at seven, go to sleep at eleven…Or watch the Daily Show…It seems silly to do that in the summer, when it doesn’t get dark until 11….
My husband falls asleep easily while watching TV. He’s tired from working during the day. I would never take a picture with my smart phone. She goes too far. I still wonder why the he_l he married her. She’s not a nice person.
I’ve never complained about winter. Well, I don’t like having to go out and clear my driveway and sidewalks several times during a blizzard, but everything else (short days, cold weather, etc.) is just fine by me.
Summer? Bleah! Ten minutes outdoors in 95 degree weather and 100% humidity and I’m ready to die.
Shamino and Varnes I agree with both of you. Winter is cozy, restful and beautiful. Snow sparkles in the moonlight, clear blue skies on a sunny day. I had to move from Michigan to Texas because of family/health reasons and hate it here. The humidity kills any ambition, the air is barely breathable. I wish I could go back.
I’ve lived in Pittsburgh (1940-2/44), St. Petersburg, FL (1944- to present, most of the time), and WI (roughly 2002 – 2012, a lion’s share of those years), and esp. now that I’m older and have A/C, MUCH prefer warm (now pretty hot, even in June) weather. Having to bundle up and endure polar-vortex temperatures and slippery streets is not fun. It’s good that different folks have different opinions, or people would be piled up even worse in Florida
You know all that fuss about changing seasons? It’s a clever distraqction to keep us from realizing we are getting older as the leaves sprout and then drop off again. All that time, we thought it was about dhanging wardrobe. Then all of a sudden you are 67 winters old and starting to get the picture.

When’s Arlo finally going to smash that damn thing?
StoicLion1973 over 9 years ago
I can’t tell if Arlo is wearing a crew-neck long-sleeved t-shirt in panel 4 or a short-sleeved mock turtleneck in panels 1-3.

My local paper runs just black and white strips, and from that I have NO idea what it’s about (especially J&A). Now I know.

The fourth panel is taking place during the Christmas season, so they are wearing warmer clothes as she reminds him of how he spent a summer evening.
