    Unfortunately, the word poppycock has nothing to do with poppies. Poppycock – anglicized form of the Dutch pappekak which literally means soft dung or diarrhea.

    @Joe-Allan;

    Ollie was in the NSC, and reported to the NSA. He occasionally worked in cooperation with the CIA, but they ran their own show.

    While the CIA may be and may have been on friendly terms with certain drug runners, smugglers, small-scale tin-pots and other assorted desperadoes (if you want intel on really bad guys you can’t go to Mother Theresa), they do not get involved in the drug trade.

    US does what US wants. Read in the paper that US sprayed a form of the flu off the coast of California, wanted to see the effects so they could determine how much damage could be done with a real bio weapon. It ran once and then was killed. Seems you can’t kill very many people that way. Drugs and drug money can be used much more selectively. I suspect we are in for a ride that some people won’t believe is true. It is probably true.

    Why are the poppies red? Opium poppies are blue! Red are the “Flander’s Field” poppies, a tribute to Memorial Day?

    Lew - it’s a JR song AND a t.v. show. Back in grandma’s time (and mine).

    napa - I read in the paper that conspiracy buffs are all certifiable nuts. Cite a source.

    Sources, Doc? We don’t do sources. We do rumor and innuendo. We like to think of ourselves as yet another Cable news network. With worse haircuts, less pay and fewer hot blond to host our shows.

    Methinks, Yerbouti has been influenced by Doty too much.

    This looks like a job for Jeff.

    I don’t know about now, but in the 80’s I had firsthand accounts of pilots who worked for the CIA making arms drops to the CONTRAS and then stopping in Panama to refuel and rest. When they took off to return to the States, their planes were loaded with an unidentified cargo. Why did we have Noriega in prison? The planes flew out of Florida and Louisiana and returned to Texas. These were small planes, armed only with radar detectors such as you would put in a car. There was a well publicized incident of one of these planes being shot down. The pilot’s name escapes me. Something,,,,,,,,,Dorfer.

    When memory fails because you want it to. Once they loaded the plane with so much they had to let off fuel to take off and when they came down the mexican army was there to protect the cargo.Double the listing for tonnage and a history of leasees did not play favourites.— both parties ands lots of agencies

    Justice you may thinking about Eugene Hasenfus. He was the “cargo kicker” and only survivor.

    FriscoLou, Thanks for the memory jog. I don’t know if that particular plane was involved in the drug runs, but it was part of the same operation of supplying the CONTRAS.

    The Parable of the Old Man and the Young

    So Abram rose, and clave the wood, and went, And took the fire with him, and a knife. And as they sojourned both of them together, Isaac the first-born spake and said, My Father, Behold the preparations, fire and iron, But where the lamb for this burnt-offering? Then Abram bound the youth with belts and straps, And builded parapets and trenches there, And stretchèd forth the knife to slay his son. When lo! an angel called him out of heaven, Saying, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, Neither do anything to him, thy son. Behold! Caught in a thicket by its horns, A Ram. Offer the Ram of Pride instead. But the old man would not so, but slew his son, And half the seed of Europe, one by one.

    @napaeric; at one time i did think trudeau was exaggerating in his stories, but it turned out i was just out of touch with american current events. i do expect this story will be no exaggeration.
