The intermission started its third hour but none of the officers noticed anything amiss. Due to limited math skills the officers gave up trying to count the freckles on Detective Sam Catchem’s face and instead used a magic marker to connect the dots. It was noted that Detective Catchem had the Big Dipper on his left cheek (face cheek, that is).
We did note that stagehands were swearing in the background as they tried to get ready for the next scene. A complaint was made that the actor portraying King Pyn wouldn’t leave the stage. He just lay there, unresponsive. Apparently he was a ham upset with his small role. He decided to cause trouble by bleeding all over and then letting his blood coagulate, thus adhering him to the floorboards…
But Tracy has been caught without a gun
How can the deed have been done
The bullets go in low and range up high
Striking similarities in the way they die
And her fingerprints, there on the grip
Just another slip-up in the strip
The bullets from the weapon are the same
Forensics will prove her story to be lame
But will Tracy obligingly die
Or will he launch himself from on high
A diving tackle from wing
Down Anja Nu, he will bring
The cops are now beginning to suspicion
That this is a abnormally long intermission
A man still lies on the stage bleeding
And the stage crew, him, is not heeding
So many things there are to discuss
So many things that bring disgust
Another terrible story will come to an end
Just like the others, it has become a trend.
No, did didn’t pan for gold in the old days. Panning refers to a cinematic shot where the camera moves from side to side, either mounted on a tripod or moving along on a rail. When reading a comic strip, your eyes are panning from one side to the other.
Also, “panning” refers to the tone of my comments here at DT…
So is this just revenge for ruining an inconsequential dinner theater performance, or has Anja been harboring a long-standing grudge that we’re only just now going to be hearing about?
I am famikiar with the panning you speak of. I take a lot of pictures. I use a tripod (hands not steady these days) ’ I have tried to do PANoramas and it didn’t work very well. The moutains retreat with distance amf the colors change with the
varying angles. I don/t know. I gave up???
WW - Great work today (as always). Have you considered adding your talent to the ongoing story that BassmanBob is supplying us with in the Annie forum?
Timely, finger pointing verse wndrwrthg. Another polish to your reputation in taking the poorly ‘thought out’ action plan of Anja’s to the cleaners.
What caught me this morning too was Tracy posture seemingly BOWING to the ‘inevitable’ - was that death in the story (?) or more a harbinger of the end of the STRIP ?
So, let’s see here now. It’s supposed to look as if Tracy and the Blank shot each other to death. Angina thinks she will shoot Tracy with a gun other than the Blank’s. And kill Tracy. The police will believe that Tracy shot the Blank from a distance in the back (no powder burns) and from below. Bullet angle. The bullet in Tracy isn’t from the Blank’s gun. And the bullet in the Blank didn’t come from any gun Tracy owns. And Tracy will have no powder burns on him. And be shot from below as well. And he will have no powder residue on his sleeves from firing the gun. How the heck is such a scenario even possible? How could this woman be so stupid? How could the writer not expect us to connect the plot holes?
Like we always said, Macy’s adversaries are always just one step dumber than Macy . No, I take that back! No one could out-dumb Macy. But it’s close! At least the baddies in this one were armed. Macy is armed with the secret SKUNK stunner. When he empties the magazine, he always is able to “reload”.
Then again, this might be an alien shape-shifter posing as Tracy, That might explain the recent morphing of Tracy’s features. I’m sure even an alien shape-shifter would be frightened when confronted by a human homicidal maniac/
not that plot, motivation or coherence matters a whit here, but what is anja’s ‘sweet revenge?’ shooting someone for ruining a play seem a teensy extreme.
About Anga’s plan—it just might work. Of course it makes no sense, since even a recruit could easily see through it. But, we’re talking about the Napperville police here, who collectively couldn’t detect a Limburger cheese sandwich right in front of them. So, there IS a chance she could pull it off.
Personal note: Whether Dick Tracy continues past the current arc, I have determined that I won’t follow into the next story. Locher has ruined this comic, and I can stand no more. I’ll follow out the current story to see how it ends, but then DT ends for me.
Michael - don’t you dare cut and run! Remember the draw here is us; not Wimpy the Cop. Macy died years ago. He was buried by Locher. We come here daily to chat and laugh. You are as big a part of it as anyone. Remember Mattie? It was Mattie that caught my attention with his hourly rantings and that hooked me! He’s still at it in the Yahoo Group and he is a hoot! He’ll be back and with his weasel sidekick. That’s one reason I hang in here. He can’t stay away for much longer, and it makes the site your high point of the day! I promise! BB’ll be back, too.
Continuing previous rant:: And the cops have to buy that Tracy AND the Blank shot each other from below at a distance with the same gun. Covered in Angina’s fingerprints. There are probably more parts of her “plan” that are totally unworkable, but why bother to point them out? The writer did not bother to notice them.
Morrow, I gotta ask: Mattie is a reason to keep coming???? His howls of how great this strip is and what a genius Locher is made me wonder long ago whether we were reading the same strip. It also made me wonder about his sanity, but I reckon that’s another issue.
About my staying on: If I do, this community is the only reason why. As far as the strip is concerned, I’ve about filled up on the detective who is more cowardly than any rookie cop should ever be. Dumber, too. So far, DT hasn’t done one thing right since the brick was thrown through his window.
unfortunately, as we have tons of cops still sitting in the audience who watched a man bleed to death and heard gunshots and more, anja nu might be able to get away with it
bring in the meddling kids, the scooby doo gang - they always caught the bad guys before the credits rolled and they can rip off her horrible mask to see who the real culprit is
Michael, we have a neat community here! We have some real creative wits here; we have some cute chickies, too! We used to have a real looker, Judy H, but she got booted ala BB-style. (Not to say we don’t have OTHER lookers, too!) And believe it or not, some real friendships have spawned here! And don’t forget, there’s plenty of competition every morning! Can’t wait to see the booger kids in the Snotpicker’s Notebook in the morning. It’ll be stupid; count om it! You wouldn’t believe the friendships that began here. I have some that started back at Comicspage and carried here.
