Hey, that’s not nice! Making fun of us big fat people who eat too much and don’t exercise is not PC. I may have a genetic or glandular excuse for sitting on my fat rump watching reality TV, and not getting up and doing something. I may have social maladjustment through no fault of my own that prevent me from reading the back of a label. I don’t see the Karen Carpenter Anorexia Contest on the Fall line-up. Come on, it’s not my fault.
Ya know, Lewreader, I used to say sarcasm is hard to get across in comments such as these. I believe you have proved me wrong.
I seem to recall a comic a while back that made a crack about Karen Carpenter, and the uproar was intense. Don’t remember which one it was or what it said, but I remember the fury.
I get up every morning at 4:30 to go to the gym and work out for an hour 5 days a week (I take weekends off) and it’s the only thing that keeps me around 300 pounds. I have the fat gene and the university here has studied it. I eat less than 1000 calories per day combined.
So when people make fun of me thinking I don’t work out or I over eat, there is a 99% chance I eat less than them and work out more than them. Making fun of me is no different than making fun of someone for something they have no control over.
Angel - I’ve heard of supplements that help you get your metabolism back. Perhaps something like that might help.
At first, my take on this cartoon was that there was only one, enormous person on the stage. So when he/she crashed through the floor, they lost the biggest loser! But then I saw “contestants”…
