One year I was told that I was getting too old to go trick-or-treating (I was in my early teens). In rebellion, I dressed as a baby: I put my hair in curly ponytails, wore yellow footie-pajamas, and carried a stuffed animal. The next year I figured that I WAS getting too old, but did one more time: I dressed as an old woman, borrowing (with permission) one of my grandmother’s wigs, empty wire-rim glasses, and a cane.
