Never seen a cat BLUSH before!! LOL But from the perspective of the distance, Wally being lifted up by Kirby really wouldn’t help him see the object any better.
I dunno…the landscape is flat, the object is distant…gaining a few feet in height by climbing up Kirbee might not gain much in the way of detail, at least till they’re closer…Is this the first time Wally’s ever been made uncomfortable about his lack of height? (I figured he lost some height when he mutated…)
I just cannot imagine a cat having any inclination to blush. I have a cat, and she has no shame, or concern for anybody’s opinion. Voting links are in my profile. We may need to make up some lost ground. Thanks, JusSayin
Wally is a human who looks like a cat, so he can still blush. We may not see it physically through his fur but in the strip it’s an artistic shortcut to indicate he is blushing, like speed lines and flop sweat are shortcuts you wouldn’t actually see in real life.Kirbee gave Wally a big wet sloppy passionate kiss last night. She made her feelings very clear to him. Of course he’s reluctant and embarrassed to get back into her arms. His feelings are not so clear to him.
I think it’s totally a male-female attraction thing, I also think Holly WAS listening when Kirbee kissed Wally and that he doesn’t want to make things worse with Holly (who was fairly benign toward Kirbee up until now). Wally values heart and Kirbee’s already shown plenty of that. She doesn’t seem to have Holly’s ability to turn cold.
I think the interpersonal dynamics in this arc are going to be VERY interesting to watch develop.
aircraft-engineer: it wasn’t Wally who said Kirbee wouldn’t last 2 weeks, it was Holly. Wally stood up for her. Kirbee has a crush on her hero and he has no idea how to deal with it. Hence: the blush.
Folks saying that Wally is a human who looks like a cat, don’t forget that a good chunk of his arc involved accepting his new partially feline nature, chasing Holly around, and all that.
A practical survival though, why didn’t they bring a map? It would at least give a hint at ruins locations. But even as I thought that, given the nature of the war and the exotic physics being unleashed (early on, there was mention that other weapons, beyond atomics and Amesworth, were used, the site of the Quest way back when being one of the results) there may also be the chance that things got changed, that reality itself was effected.

Blushing because he doesn’t want to be held by someone he is developing feelings for with Holly right there?

It’s interesting seeing Wally blush through a faceful of fur.

So many things running through his poor mind, and his skull too!

Wally is disinterested in getting high.

Guess he came up a little short.

The fact that the 4 airscouts were headed in this direction does not bode well.

Seems to me, a bird would have better eyesight than a cat.

What if they became human briefly and Kirby was gorgeous?

Anyone can point me to the ‘attraction’ between cat and mouse arcs?

I swear, why does Holly always look like a deer caught in the headlights, even when there’s nothing to be frightened of???

I think it might be a transporter. And I think that Kirbee has a crush on Wally, and that is confusing.
