After you drop the hamster off, you can go to Frankfurt to get a frankfurter.

In panel 4, the hamster — realizing that he won’t be sent to the city of legal pot and hookers — says one word:“Dam.”

The river that Amsterdam was built on is called the Amstel. Which also happens to be the name of a beer brand (Amstel bier) that was brewed and drunk in Amsterdam since 1860. But now is owned by Heineken and sold all around the world.

Just a reminder, it’s not “Hampster”. There is no P in hamster..Unless you squeeze them really hard.

What holds back the river? A boy sticking his finger in the dike. (Please, no correcting me about the story of the Dutch boy plugging the leak in the dike with his finger if you don’t get that this was a sarcastic joke aimed at Pig)

Hamsterdam? I’d say this strip is a tribute to “The Wire,” Season 3.

I made a hamster and swiss on rye once, but he ate all the lettuce before I could eat the sandwich.

In the late 1920s, President Hoover was watching a presentation by his Secretary of the Interior, who was describing a particularly wild section of the Colorado River as it roared through a gorge.

It was such a hazard, and the Secretary asked the President, “What should be done about this part of the river?”

The President stood up to walk over to the display to get a better view. He stubbed his toe on a desk, and as he winced in pain he shouted, “Dammit!”

    So they did.

    Even named it after him.

Hmmm… he has time to dawdle at… wherever he is right now… but no time to take care of a hamster? I call shenanigans.

Or you could send him to New Hamstershire. It’s much closer and he can vote in the upcoming presidential primary.

@leftwingpatriot:my godmother, who’s german and from Frankfurt am Main (which is the full german name) says there’re no frankfurters in Frankfurt, it’s a foreign invention, like the chinese fortune cookies.the most common german fast food is Currywurst (=curry sausage)
