As I see how fear of bad government galvanizes, at least enough to make us fantasize about being able to escape to the Hedge, I think of the countries where there is no Hedge …and all of this galvanization by 3:30 a.m. Pacific and Baja Mexican time. Viva La US and the East Coast, wherever you are.

Good idea! This has consistently been the weakest cartoon on my list, and this pablum is a good place for me to get off. As Al Kooper warned when Linda Ronstadt interrupted her Vegas show for a political rant, people want entertainers to entertain, not tell them what to think.

Trump is a terrible option, however he is more intelligent and harder working than all the other options.

It’s easy to lose your sens of humor when you are sliding down the slope of fatalism. It gets worse when you realize what’s going on, but at least you have a chance to do something about it. Doesn’t matter what your bias is, except for the degree of investment in it. The only thing worse for many people than being informed against their will is being made introspective against their will. Who do you admire most, Verne or RJ? Hammy seems to be the only one who can cut through the dialog.

To quote that venerable sage of the swamps, Pogo: “We have met the enemy and they is us.”Until all Americans get off their butts, and I mean all, not just the 20-30% who vote regularly, learn about and research their candidates and the issues and demand better of them at the voting booth, we are getting what we deserve, which is mediocrity in high places. Our founding fathers never meant for politics to become a profession, because they realized inbreeding led to stupidity. Just imagine what would happen, for instance, if come November 2016 we fired all of the worthless bastards and did not re-elect anyone, but instead elected a slate of candidates who had never been politicians before.

Jeb? Why Jeb? His poll numbers are not good. Is Jeb the Republican Hillary for the media? There is no groundswell for Jeb.

“Communists”? Sounds like mindless ad hominem from the the 1950s. Nothing but echoes from the brainwashing by an Australian media merchant. Speak English, not Strine, and learn a real political vocabulary and then we can have a basis for discussion.

WHY do all comic strips that spend 99% of the year NOT involved with politics turn political now? Especially ones that DON’T involve any current news stuff the rest of the year? Leave the political cartons for the editorial page and give us the stuff we read “regular” comics for, willya? Sheesh.

If Trump gets the nomination, I’m voting for him. Rome is burning, and at this point, I just want to see a little fiddle/lyre playing before I have to return to an inevitable hunting/gathering/constant-guerrilla-warfare lifestyle.
