When I’m at church, my eyes are always on the priest, never the other churchgoers, at least not until it’s time for the sign of peace.

Judging by all the empty pew space, it appears the minister must have bored a lot of other people.

Ties were introduced in the 17th century to cover shirt buttons. Silly looking and uncomfortable.

I remember reading once about a guest speaker who was giving the sermon at a church. In the front pew he saw a middle aged gentlman who stared at him through the whole sermon, he didn’t even look down at his bible when the pastor referred to a particular passage. After a while it really got on his nerves and he did his best not to look at the man while he continued with the sermon, but at the end he was so unnerved by the situation that he decided to give the man a piece of his mind. As everyone got up and started moving around he approached the man, but stopped in sudden embareassment when he saw the man get up, reached for something on the pew, and snapped open his folding white cane.

Their church is different from ours. In ours, the front is empty and the back is full.

Talk about something different, June isn’t wearing her apron! And she needs a knitting needle to keep Ralph awake. And he would deserve it, as long as she didn’t go TOO deep. Maybe a couple of inches in!
