Hope it ain’t Schindler’s List; not good for children as young as Dean and Heart to watch.

I suspect it’s his birthing film. Should not be watched after birth, not in ac-cord-ance with the laws of nature. Place-enta-ed in the box so the kid would never find it.

Dean’s too young to have his birth on film. Even a VHS cassette would be pushing it, these days.

In another strip it might be a stag reel, but not here, I think. I expect it’s some sort of “lost classic”, something so obscure that only someone like Dean would even know it if he saw it. Either that, or his Dad was a kid with a Super 8 hanging around Dealey Plaza on 11/22/63.

(Actually, I think it’ll be something nobody here has thought of yet.)

I still have my folks old home movie system, Fritz, it still works but you can’t get the right film unless you find a specialty place.

And since when does reality have anything to do with our comments here?

Fair enough, freeholder, and no offense was intended. I still think it’s unlikely, but not outside the realm of possibility. “Birth movies” strike me as more of a video-age phenomenon than a celluloid-age phenomenon, but if Dean’s Dad had a long-standing love of film, he may very well have been hesitant to abandon the old technology in favor of the new.

By the way, can anybody refresh my memory concerning Dean’s parents? Are they both still in the picture? I recall that Dean’s Dad has (or had) a military background, but is he among the Honored Dead?

didn’t somebody once find a copy of the first known disney animated short when going through someones old film library? “Little red riding hood” had been assumed lost forever…

@friztzoid: I seem to remember a Fathers’ Day strip years ago that had Dean telling Heart what he and his dad did and/or were going to do. He felt sorry for her b/c she has no father (present, anyway).

Dean talks about getting in trouble with his mom, too. So it sounds to me like his parents are alive and together.
