Tiffany: Yes!! Tiffany: Math homework, done! I'm really getting the hang of algebra, thanks to you, G- Tiffany: Oo! I'll be quiet. You're still doing your uber hard trigocalculary stuff. Gunther: Actually, I'm done with my homework. I'm just doing some challenge problems for fun. Tiffany: HAHAHAHA! Right! "fun"! HA HA HA!!

When will Gunther and Tiffany fall in love, or admit it if they already have?

OK Gunther – Tiff got a taste of your kind of fun. Now you need to get a taste of what Tiff thinks is fun.

I’m starting to think maybe Gunther is going to tame Tiffany. She’s so different than he is, but she seems to be changing, even her manner of dress is quieter. And he seems a lot more comfortable sitting there with her. . It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the long run!
Airman about 9 years ago
What a delight to see these two back on the canvas after all of the angst of the Luann – Quill – Pru triangle. They actually look comfortable together. Come on, Greg, let’s have a real romance for a change.

SOMETHING OTHER THAN LUANN’S LOVE-LIFE!! My pleas were answered!!
JayBluE about 9 years ago
Ooh, a bonus for Tiffany! She gets to learn new math, and new word definitions!
Caldonia about 9 years ago
Yeah, as long as this session doesn’t end with Gunther whimpering to Quill later, this ain’t so bad!
Airman about 9 years ago
Time for Tiff to utter those magic words to Gunther, “Don’t go……..just yet.”

I’ve always had a warm spot for the unlikely but surprisingly satisfying Crystal-Knute pairup.

I suggest throw out Luann and rename this comic strip to Gunther, then have all Gunther all the time.
Sisyphos about 9 years ago
Yeah, that trigo-calculary stuff can be tough when you’re still in high school, Tiff. But you’re a college girl now, and Gunny is a college boy….. And math is elegant; that’s something that should appeal to a striving sophisticate, sweetie!

Anything that’s different!

They are becoming friends… and that is a very good start.

And where is that stupid pillow with the open mouth and the tongue sticking out? I think it was red and heart shaped.

I would like to see some development of the Knute/Crystal relationship too!

You KNOW what “Fun” Leads to with THIS Gal….,

They are freshers at college……he is male she is female……it doesn’t have to be more complicated than that……marriage is years away for both of them (now that Tiff might actually pass an exam).

People don’t understand that that which you enjoy is fun, regardless of how difficult it may seem to others. For me, studying Turkish is fun. For others, it’s an act of self-mortification.

What happened to Toni? I was hoping for at least a week of her! I guess this is better than Pru, Luann, Quill, Bernice rectangle! Enjoy the last day of November in Luanniverse.
ACTIVIST1234 about 9 years ago
Oooo. Tiff is growing! First she learns how to do some math, then she learns to be sensitive to G’s needs. How exciting!

“I don’t see any love here. Toleration, though is high.”*NG – Right, they’re getting used to each other and are comfortable around each other. They are helping each other grow. Sounds like love (adult style) to me.

9Very pleasant way to start Monday! This is cute and fun. Very, very well done! One point to ponder…. what do people think will happen about the big show at the Fuse? I mean, it is only 26 days until Christmas. Will the whole story about the play and its production be glossed over and we will only see a small amount about the final product? Will the actual story arc span well beyond Christmas even though it was was billed as a “Holiday Production” meaning it could perhaps be Valentine’s Day? Just wondering what other’s thoughts are on this “big show”?

…isn’t algebra something you are supposed to get the hang of in high school?? (Or middle school??)

@Templo – F is for Fire that burns down the town, U is for Uranium…Bomb, N is for No Survivors here in the deep blue sea. :) Plankton from Sponge Bob Square Pants

What I am also especially liking about the way Tiffany is portrayed here today….. is that she is being portrayed as happy and playful and just a fun, ordinary college kid. Much of the time she has been either a villain or an airhead or a vampy vixen. While those portrayals are a part of her history as a character… I really like the changes here and hope they continue.

G-man, G-man, G-man. Uncross those legs, Dude. At the ankles, or ankle-on-knee only. It’s one of the tells we macho types use.

When a comix author can’t figure out where a plot line is going, (s)he just switches to another one… until that one hangs up.
StoicLion1973 about 9 years ago
I have to admit, the burgeoning friendship (maybe more) between Gunther & Tiff is much more interesting than the full-on relationship between Luann & Quill. And, slightly more interesting than Brad & Toni.

YES! StoicLion, I agree

Gunther’s body language seems to say he’s just there for the math.

HAIR TIES (cont.). Months ago when Toni fixed a motor (TJ’s van?), she magically put a scrunchy around her long tresses so she could work. A number of people said their gfs keep scrunchies around their wrists so they have them in time of need.*Warning: This Yahoo article (Yahoo articles are known to be 75% incorrect) warns that that might lead to a diabolical disease. Well…I see the B is back…stupid as ever. I see NO love between them whatsoever.

Why would Tiffany be thinking about Piro? Shouldn’t it be Bernice who would be thinking about him? After all, he stayed in her dorm room. Twice…
RSH about 9 years ago
yes indeed… they have nothing in common.
Airman about 9 years ago
If Greg had any sense of romance he could turn this story into “My Fair Lady”. Gunther would be Professor Higgins to Tiffany’s Eliza Doolittle and he would sing, “I’ve grown accustomed to her face” while Tiff would respond with, “Don’t talk of love – show me!” But, alas, Greg tends more to the Shakespeare style tragedy..
Luanaphile about 9 years ago
FYI. “College” algebra is a credit course at almost all public universities and most private ones. it is too much of a cash cow, and is a pre-prerequisite for calculus. Tiffany is right on track.

Is Gunther related to Kim, the Doonesbury character who dropped out of the MIT doctoral program because it was “Too Easy” ?.
forester6291 Premium Member about 9 years ago
It’s a good start.
luann1212 about 9 years ago
Tiffany and Gunther always get a lot of responses. Where it all leads who knows, but it is interesting to watch. I think this relationship will go the next level in more ways than one. Then they both have to decide how they feel about that, Tiffany because she may actually feel some deep emotions, Gunther because he may also, but has to process it for other reasons. And of course, there is always Rosa. Rosa will come back I predict, go to Yale, but might have interest still in Gunther. That is my bet

Gunther is sitting on the couch with Tiffany, who has both her legs off the floor, and he is sitting at the very end and doing math problems “for fun”. I think that says all about this “relationship” that needs to be said. In real life, it would never go anywhere.
