I recall vividly the afternoon I first heard The Beatles. It was “I want to hold your hand!” Up until then it was just stuff to fill the airwaves will I read comic books … background music. Later that week The Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan Show on TV … WOW!
…yeah, stuck in an elevator for two hours….with 8 other helpless yobs……..rescue eventually came (they had to wake someone up…) but the hapless 8, to this very day, still have vivid memories of….THAT smell………..
One of my favorite SNL skits had Paul Simon and John Lovitz as the Devil. Paul sells his soul for a great career. Montage of PS through the years Now he’s old, and he walks into an elevator with a Muzak version of one of his songs playing. He kind of gives a “what can you do” grin to the person in the elevator. They shake their head and get off, and the Devil appears. Paul says “Well, you kept your word. I had a great life and a fantastic career. I’m ready to go now.” The Devils says “Go??” and laughs and disappears, leaving him trapped for eternity in an elevator playing Muzak versions of his songs! Paul screams. The end!
Two “find it”s today! What is Joy doing with Burl’s slippers after she smells them? (Besides passing out, I mean). And what’s up with the tiny hands and coffee mugs for Marlene and Joy? Inquiring minds want to know!

They have all their albums. They believe Barry Manilow covers a lot of their stuff.

Whenever I hear the music of my youth (60s-70s) in an elevator, a commercial, or a grocery store, a little of me dies.
