“Speaking of power?” Is she referring to the badge, or what? Re the Textbook–running down the street late at night is likely to get you tasered by the cops, at least in my neighborhood.
A week!? The tycoon’s been missing for over a week!? That means that when the chief propositioned Tracy, there was already a new investigation that should have been started, but hadn’t been!?
Well at least that explains the change in the newspaper headline between yesterday and today: The papers have been screaming about this disappearance for over a week, yet Tracy and company haven’t even begun to consider the matter!
And you’ll notice that the teletype has been working overtime. No doubt, the text coming across the teletype is from the FBI, and they want to know why the Naperville PD hasn’t gotten back to them about this huge, high-profile case that’s happening right under their noses.
But, on the bright side, today marks the first time in history that a Crimestopper’s Textbook has actually contained good advice that won’t get you killed or in some other way aid and abet criminals.
And there we have Sam Catchem - panel 4 (don’t mind the words) showing Tracy by ‘hand gesture’ just how much panel space he’s had in the past two years !
So….moving on to the next story without ever explaining, or even acknowledging, the man who was shot and killed by Johnny Nothing on May 29th? Even going so far as to say a few days ago that Nothing was being charged with “attempted murder” of Dick Tracy but leaving out the more serious charge?
Oh, and was Anja Nu’s motive ever explained beyond being a “wannabe actress”? Nu wanted to kill Dick Tracy with a GUN and make it look like an accident? WTF?
How did Tracy get good reviews for his performance in the case? He didn’t lift a finger and still he takes credits for it with a smug, completely out-of-character remark and ditto expression.
But, on the bright side, today marks the first time in history that a Crimestopper’s Textbook has actually contained good advice that won’t get you killed or in some other way aid and abet criminals.
See barticle35’s comments. Also note that the dog, while characteristically drawn so poorly as to be ambiguous, looks as if it might be one of the so-called ‘pit bull’ breeds. If so, the police in many cities would shoot it on sight.
Great Sunday strip. Dick Tracy’s always a fun SUNDAY read. The team of Sam Catchem, the Chief and Tracy again fill the Sunday comics- as always entertaining.
Cool to see some NEW villains on the horizon. Keep the Sunday funnies coming. More neat stories! Thanks gocomics!
“The guy on the wanted poster looks like Charlie Brown! Maybe Lucy pulled up that football once too often.”
I believe you’re right-That IS Charlie Brown-I always knew that little red-headed girl would get him in trouble.
And the Jogger looks like David Bowie.
Macy’s reading the back of the paper; the missing person story is on the front page - unless it’s the only story in town and the middle pages are filled with Home Depot ads and this week’s deals at Toyota-thon!

Is Tracy holding the paper so that everyone in the office can see the headline on the front page? He seems to be reading the back page.

Usually, the police know about missing persons long before the newspapers. And the Naperville Sun has changed its masthead again. Oh, well. (sigh)

Vista Bill, by Tuesday you’ll need 3-D glasses to appreciate the full DEPTH of the new ‘POLICE’ sign over the Naperville station.
And you’ll note they’ve even dropped the word Hdqtrs !

Who is that on the Wanted poster behind Dick in the last panel? It looks like an alien who stole Charlie Brown’s shirt.

Blah, blah, blah – more recapping ad nauseam.
Like I said before, I was hoping this story wouldn’t be so two-dimensional…
Check out the close-up of Sam’s hand. How did he end up with opposable thumbs on the same hand? What a mutant. He must be the father of Megan Fox:
