I think Brad & Toni just invented the Procrastination Calendar…
JayBluE almost 9 years ago
Good thing he found one! If they shot past January, they’d all have to stop the meeting and run to buy a new calendar, before continuing… – Don’t know if they threw the (date) book at him… or he threw his at them …. – At least, instead of sour grapes and all, they settled for a pretty sweet date ….

In Toni’s world, 9/11 would have been a fine day for the wedding, but 11/20 would be no good because her dog died that day. Think about that, Brad, before you say “I do”.
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Do you suppose Team Evans changed their minds about the 9/11 wedding after lots of people complained? It seems strange to have introduced such a controversial idea, if you had in fact planned on then not following through with it.
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Why can’t they get married on the DeGroots’ anniversary? Wouldn’t Frank and Nancy actually be pleased by being “honored” in that way? I bet they would, more than the survivors of 9/11 would have felt “honored” by the original wedding plans.
CR7hater almost 9 years ago
Seriously Team Evans? Bad enough a 09/11 wedding was going to be dragged out another eight months … it’s now 11 months? ELEVEN MONTHS? …
Anybody else noticed that the first two dates were Saturdays – but all others, including 09/11, are on Sunday’s … obviously, Team Evans wants a Sunday Big Panel for the wedding …

Hey, December 11 is my birthday.
Alan Smithee almost 9 years ago
Our anniversary is October 1st. Never even heard of WVD. Sorry, but we still would have served some kind of dead animal flesh. My wife’s Bday is 4/20. I know what that date means to many but it’s also Hitler’s Bday. I stopped reminding her of that so the bruise could heal.

December 11th was the day Italy and Germany declared war on the U.S. in 1941. Therefore, by some posters logic, maybe we should avoid this date?

The week has been chosen. When is the ceremony date? Stay tuned.

Dec 11th is National Tango Day. (In Buenos Aires, that is.) And, you know, it takes two. So, good choice!

December 11 isn’t that the day Jonah and his wife got their divorce.
bookworm0812 almost 9 years ago
This sucks! I really liked the idea of them getting married on September 11th! I liked the whole 9-11 Memorial idea that they wanted to put in with their wedding! I hope something changes! Although, December 11th is my mom’s birthday.

HEY! I’ve got a SWINGING Idea, You ANNOYING Love-Monkeys!
Have Your Wedding Next Month on February 29th!
Why You Ask? Weeeeeeell:
1) By Having it on Feb. 29th You’d only have to Celebrate Your Anniversary every 4 years.2) Be Having It Next MONTH, You’d HURRY Up and get it the HECK over with so WE can go back to the MORE Interesting “Tiffany/Gunther Saga.”3) NOTHING of ANY Great IMPORTANCE Has Ever HAPPENED on February 29th.
Now, Now. YES, I AM a GENIUS and NO You DON’T Have to THANK Me…..,

Well, that should make their anniversary easier to remember…

December 11 preserves the option for Greg to do a grand Sunday spread. But it’s quite possible that Luann will steal the show by failing to show up as she couldn’t find her way out of her messy bedroom. Coming next year: Hoarders starring Luann DeGroot.

Vegetarian day limits their menu? Come on now… you’ve got to be kidding.
RolloTheGrouch almost 9 years ago
December 11? Two weeks before Christmas? Seriously? In the real world, everyone would be too involved in preparing for the holidays to go to a wedding. And The Fuse would be all occupied with another holiday extravaganza. They take a week off for a honeymoon and come back one week before Christmas, all set to go Christmas shopping and decorating their new house. And every year, their anniversary will be in the same busy season.Sounds like a winner to me.
luann1212 almost 9 years ago
Wow a whole year to prepare for the nuptials. I stand corrected as to 9/11, and perhaps it was changed because of the outcry. I personally feel that the original idea was a good one, but reasonable people may differ. You can be sure there will be some drama, but that is a Sunday so I expect a huge one panel with most if not all the characters in the strip being in attendance. Also the Fuse seems to perfect place to hold the wedding. Shannon will be the flower girl, TJ is Brad’s best man, Luann the Maid of Honor, but besides that who else will be in the wedding party? Will Jonah be in it? He is Toni’s brother.
edge2edge almost 9 years ago
So, what’s with this curmudgeon boss? Is he anti 911? Does he regard asking for time off for a wedding up there with time off for a pedicure? Man what a buzz kill…
maverick1usa almost 9 years ago
So, we go from 9-11 to 12-11. It’s gonna be a long year in Luanniverse but this gives the DeGroots, Mr. Gray & Pru plenty of time to have ‘The Fuse’ ready for the wedding & reception before Toni & Brad have the real unification on the honeymoon!
JayBluE almost 9 years ago
One particular Sunday strip had them walking in a “whiteout”….
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Is this Team Evans’ way of thumbing their noses at their critics (while nevertheless giving in to their demands), by in effect saying that 9/11 is no more “sacred” than World Vegetarian Day or National Nut Day, so if we consider 9/11 inappropriate for a wedding, then we should apply the same standards to every other possible day?
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
If Toni’s dog had died on 9/11 (of any year), then that would make the anniversary date too sad for a wedding. You’re a shallow person, Toni.
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member almost 9 years ago
8I am glad it appears the 9/11 date is no longer “the date” for the wedding. That was IMO a good decision. I like the interplay today between Brad and Toni, even though the “dog died” comment is a tad cringe inducing as some have suggested. For me, the funniest and best part about today’s comic is the fact that they cannot hold their wedding on “World Vegetarian Day” because it would “limit their menu”! This was the best laugh of the day! Very fun!
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Wouldn’t having the wedding on November 20 “honor” your dead dog, Toni?
cdgar almost 9 years ago
Life is a series of compromises. They seem to have settled quickly on a new wedding date and a more practical, one week honeymoon/getting settled living together period. Those were exciting times for me and my love, I hope it’s as good for these two.
Caldonia almost 9 years ago
Yeah. Team Evans came up with a poor idea in the 9/11 choice, they had the chance to get out of it gracefully—and they blew it, with this strip.
doverdan almost 9 years ago
They have gotten the wedding out of the 9/11 mess..GOOD.But only to put it off for three more months. !!!.ODD.However, the whole wedding issue is IMO boring, so it makes no difference to me. .There is (as far as I can see) no plot or storyline here at all.

Toni: “OK, 12/11 it is, then, I guess.”Brad: “Yeah. You know, Toni, the 9/11 itself was probably too traumatic anyway…”
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
On Monday Toni said they would be “honoring” 9/11 by their wedding ceremony. Some “honor”.
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Implausible…. well stated. The analogy of Toni’s co-worker having the 11/20 wedding is well said.

I have a post near the bottom of yesterday’s comments which may explain better why the Captain couldn’t give them the original choice of time off, if anyone cares.
That said, if this gets delayed again, I think Toni’s suggestion of eloping may be the best outcome, even if it does leave the rest of the cast without a wedding to attend. For all I know, Team Evans may well be planning to have them decide they can’t wait any longer and elope on the spur of the moment. Or they may hit more planning snags. Or World War III may break out. Or Quill may move to Utah with both Luann and Prudence. Or … or … or …
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Or Brad and Toni may really look at each other for the first time and ask “What in the world was I thinking???”, and they call the whole thing off. In the real world, that would be the best thing that could happen to these two, but I doubt that the strip would allow it.
Daniel Wilson Premium Member almost 9 years ago
Okay, I scanned the comments. Too many to care about. Let’s just get Toni and Brad married this year. Okay? Their story has been around for a long time (in real time) and I think they just need to tie the knot. Please.

Looking at my calendar, Dec. 11 is the Anniversary of the Statue of Westminster in Canada. Take a ski vacation honeymoon.*So you had planned on the beach after a firehouse ceremony. A bit of a letdown. Reality bites.
gromit82 almost 9 years ago
I have to wonder if Brad and Toni will take a long time to decide to hold their wedding at the Fuse, which is where it is obviously destined to take place. (And by “a long time”, I mean “any time beyond tomorrow’s strip.”)
If they decide to start checking out medieval-style castles and nudist camps again as venues, that’s going to look really stupid.
seismic-2 Premium Member almost 9 years ago
There’s Aunt Vicki, who gave Puddles to Luann. She might come to the wedding, if she’s capable of traveling. Aside from that, I doubt there’s anyone. Did Brad have any friends at all, when he was in high school? Did Toni? Maybe they should invite Dirk, to make things interesting, (After all, none of this would have happened if Toni hadn’t seen Dirk and Mrs. Dirk with their baby and then been inspired to propose to Brad, just out of envy.)

Considering how few people know the bride and groom, why don’t they save some money and just have the ceremony in the DeGroots’ back yard?

Did Mrs. Horner know Brad before he and TJ almost burnt what used to be her house down? She lives in some local senior retirement center so I’m sure she could make it.
Diane?
Maybe Delta and Rosa can fly in from D.C. and Peru? Aaron from Hawaii? Hi and Lois? Dagwood and Blondie?

53 years ago, June 1, 1963, I went to work out of college for a big industrial gases company. My fiancee’ and I planned to marry in August, then take a week Honeymoon. Plans were made, reservations, etc….Then I told my boss I would be on a honeymoon from Aug 9-16….Imagine my amazement when the boss told me I hadn’t been on the job long enough to be allowed to take a week off? I was ignorant and had never dealt with vacation stuff in a big company before. they allowed me three days (as if I were sick, but not so sick I had to have a doctor’s excuse to return to work).

Who cares about Vegetarian Day? You don´t have to eat vegetarian if you don’t want to.
