I find instructions actually do confuse me MORE than not using them. I do read them over before getting started, but many times the instructions leave out key points, like which way to put the bolt and which end to have the nut or which way this piece should face. They usually say Connect AA to BB using 6 pieces of AB#12 without specifying any of the details.
Years ago I bought a bike for my son. I didn’t want the first box so I grabbed the one about 5 boxes back. Out of all the boxes I picked the one with one peddle.
I know about some boxes coming with extra hardware for products; the owner’s manuals are for assembling two or three similar products, so hardware for all of them is included in the box.

Well, I’m sure my Amish relatives (as far as my great-grandfather) didn’t need instruction manuals when they made furniture as well as barns.

Remember Earl,, what Red Green says : “If the women don’t find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.”
And don’t forget the handyman’s secret weapon…duct tape !

She should have told him it was a lamp table before he started. That makes it all her fault, right? (This is the way my husband thinks)

Heathkits were great! Hubby built a shortwave radio and our first color TV with them.
