Give Frank a break, we all are manipulated to use all these “modern” conveniences, each of which cost us money, cost money to produce, cost the rock we live on, or putting it another way, “mother earth” cost mother earth, so either we blithely use them, or learn to conserve. Besides capitalism says, you can’t get something for nothing.

    -real wasted power

I dunno, Frank. The last bill I got from AT&T charged me for my internet connection. So how is the internet ‘free’?

And if you’re worried about the cost of power usage, how about the power you’re wasting there in the last panel keeping your coffee warm, and running a task light that isn’t even close enough to your laptop to illuminate the screen? Not to mention the overhead lights.

I’m guessing those power hogs, along with all the money you just invested in renovating a warehouse, are the joke, intended to show how silly you are, Frank, for worrying about LEDs…

Whatever it may have cost Frank to do that research, it was worth it. It passed the time, and gave him something to think about. Those LEDs and LCDs on the other hand…

All consumer energy ends up as heat. It’s winter, so it all contributes to warming the house.

Put solar panels on the Fuse. California is a great state for doing just that kind of thing.

So far everyone has missed the irony of the coffee cup warmer and the desk lamp beaming down. Frank has used more energy during his research than the LEDs use all year.

Frank should worry about the heat/air conditioning bell instead. Especially the one at ‘The Fuse’. I still don’t understand that name. Enjoy the day.

You are a regular Sherlock Ohms.☺The tech was hammering a nail. He hit his thumb and yelled “Mhz” !!!☺In the old days of electricity, like 100 years ago and more, devices wired in parallel were wired in “shunt” such as in a shunt wound DC motor.☺Electric stove song: “Oh ohm on the range”.

Frank shows the sort of financial reasoning that let him think he could undertake a $2M+ project to purchase and re-purpose a warehouse for $70K in financing.

It’s also true that those LEDs interrupt sleep patterns. You don’t get the full value out of your rest with them around. In my sleeping room those lights are covered up.

The DeGroots have risked too much for this business to fail…i.e., it will never fail. There will be hiccups to try and create artificial drama, but Team Evans will not let their main protagonists fail this badly. . . . . -————————————————————Probably not.,Though bankruptcy is in style these days..Only those who had faith in you loose. .You win.

waste energy inside the house is heating the house just like an electria heater. This will reduce his heating cost by the same amount wasted, raise it for air conditioning (refrigeration) since it has to pump more heat out. Best to reduce biggest wasters first. Keep in mind, some uses may look like waste but are worth the cost ~ like refrigerated food and drink, cooked food, clean clothes and bodies, unfrozen selves, unheat-stroked selves.

Frank just sunk, what? $60,000 into the Fuse, and he’s worried about 48 cents a year? Is this “penny wise – pound foolish”?

How much electricity, gas, and water is the Fuse using daily, just to be there? And to pay those bills, he’s held two performances (assuming there was a New Year’s show, which we never saw) in a month? What a boondoggle.

Correct – the LEDs may consume a negligible amount of electricity. Low current LEDS tend towards less than 2v at 1mA which would be less than 2mW. 1000 of those would use 2W. In the old days, your electric meter with that metal wheel turning wouldn’t even move if that was ALL you had running in the whole house. Of course the electronics to control those LEDs, or do the other things you want done by the devices with the LEDs, as said, might begin adding up. You can buy power meters to find out what the devices actually cost you. Sort of like Frank spending hours to find out that a dozen LEDs of some (unspecified) type would cost a dollar per year does sound pointless. How much will his insomnia cost him at work the next day.[I gave an example of low-current LEDS. More common LEDs in values like 10mA – 40 mA, typically running at around 2-3 V. Multiply mA X V to get mW).Brighter LEDs run at as much as 5V at a half amp – that’s 2.5W. Others are actually several of the normal or low-current LEDs in what looks like a large LED, so you’d have to measure it all together (e. g., multiple).]
