I got my first ticket, W6KAH, in 1949 when I was 14 years old. Changed it to W1BSV when I came to Boston area to start college. I still renew it, but truth be told I haven’t been on the air for quite a while.See: http://wkrp.org/jeff/W1BSV.html
This ‘toon brought back happy long ago memories of my dad sitting for hours on a stool in a virtual closet that he turned into his ’radio shack’ — exchanging conversation with other ham operators he’d manage to connect with… He’s been gone many years now but I still remember his call letters — OXB - which stood for OBOE-XRAY-BAKER- and I like to think he’s still sitting somewhere in the spirit world sending out messages and getting ones I send to him.
WA4FHY reads Pluggers. Also be sure to check Pluggers for 20may11 and repeated on 24may13 – while not exactly ham radio, pretty closeThanks to Gary Brookins and OM N8JKO73, WA4FHY
Ever since I was a little boy, I spent many an hour listening toan old Zenith Long Distance shortwave radio that my grandfather had I was hooked on radio. Now many years later, I became a Ham operator and enjoy it very much as my main hobby. 73’s, KA7DRE
DON’T BE SUPRIZED IF 5 OR 10 YEARS FROM NOW WHEN BACK IN THE DAY WHEN A PLUGGER WAS INVOLVED IN SOCIAL MEDIA RAN A COMPUTER BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM THAT WAS CONNECTED TO A MODEM AND A TELEPHONE LINE.

Looks like my old “man cave”, but I doubt I have the dexterity for Morse code on the old Vibroplex telegraph any more.

Thank you Gary for your support of Amateur Radio in today’s panel. It was very gracious of you to do this.
