Boxes kill trees. So do corks. Go with recyclable glass with screw tops.

Killing and using soft wood trees is not a problem. There are more forests now than any time in the recorded history of mankind due to management and replanting — especially by the large paper companies. We do need to take care of the hard wood forests used for building.

Both glass and cork are easily recycled. The real bugaboo is plastics. That is what needs to be eliminated, petroleum based plastics.

And, the other issue: how exactly does a young person to learn to drink responsibly unless it is modeled for her/him at home? GEEZ!!!!!

I would doubt the coated paper used for box wines is recyclable. From BusinessInsider: Milk “Cartons are made primarily of paper but also have a thin layer of polyethylene, or plastic. Shelf-stable cartons contain a layer of aluminum. As such, milk cartons should be recycled with plastic, metal …” But recycling has broken down for plastics of any complexity now that China has decided they don’t want to buy them.

In every “boxed” wine I’ve ever seen, the wine was actually contained in a plastic bag inside the box.

Not only can glass bottles can be recycled, but they don’t leak chemicals into the wine.
