Another example of over-protective sentiment rife today in America. Live life to the fullest; take a chance. Don’t live in a cocoon and don’t keep your kids or pets in one.
Being concerned about a pet doesn’t seem to me to being over protective. Same advice people should follow for their children also. Would you tell a young daughter to live life to the fullest and take a chance by running back and forth across a busy highway? Too many parents today don’t worry about their children.
As a technical investigator, I often hear that investigators do not believe in coincidence. We believe in it but dislike it; demonstrating that something is truly a coincidence is no fun.
Having your cat declawed is not a good thing to do….have you ever read about what that means? Imagine having the ends of your fingers chopped off, from the last knuckle forward.
Do you know what a life confined indoors is called? It is called “prison”. You can try it if you like. It isn’t hard to attain. I don’t think that you would like it any better than your cat does.
This is how I live, and choose to give as an example to the 2 small human ones I am raising. It is my father’s example I follow, and the compassion and strength balance is beautiful to see blossom in those little souls. We give to those whose paths cross ours as they need and as we can. And, as you have so eloquently expressed, what we get back is priceless. It is wonderful to read such parallel sentiment from “a stranger somewhere out there”. Thank you. Blessed Be
@DavidHuieGreen“Only fools do not keep going and hit the animals. And most times that is what happens.”.But all are fools at some point in our lives.Note also the fools killed others, not just themselves.I know one who lost the bottom half of her leg.She had not planned ahead and only had a fraction of a second to make a reasoned decision.I explained to my sons to make that decision right now, and they did. One told me later it had come up four times for him and he had remembered and survived without hurting himself or others. Classmates of his had not.
@DavidHuieGreen“Keep them in the apartment or house.”.Or just don’t keep them at all. They stink up the house.Destroy possessions. Are miserable caged in a restricted environment...And then there’s the matter of the cats who hang around our house, untouched by human hands. They steal our possum’s food..I can’t catch them.Won’t shoot them.Won’t trap them..I consider them free agents, free to do as they wish and suffer or enjoy the consequences.

Not only that, they have decimated the song bird population everywhere.

Cruelty to animals is one symptom of a psychotic personality. Anyone who hurts an animal for pleasure should seek mental health counseling.

Too many psychos out there who get pleasure from harming cats.

I guess you have to be a cat person (which I’m not) but this strip totally eludes me. Will someone please explain it? Thanks.

People who have a personal horse to ride/flog (choose your metaphor) can’t resist, even when it constitutes cruelty to the “animal”.

I’m at the end of the comments and still no explanation to the comic.

“Vehicles are the most dangerous killer out there.”.No, it’s the cats. People swerve to avoid hitting them and kill other people instead.

“stray kittys make wonderful target practice.”.Killing and torturing for the fun of it is perverse. Please stop.

Bless you for taking such good care of these neglected animals.

Is there some reason why people have to make a statement out of every blessed comic? Just enjoy the strip and stop making issues.

Little late but thanks for the explanation. Don’t have cats (allergic) so didn’t recognize the eyes as cat food. Awesome! :)
