Well, leave a note and go over to Trout’s house. No, no that wouldn’t do. Oh well. Maybe another neighbor.

The truck is not good in good weather either. I had a car like that once. Turn the steering wheel to the left and the car goes—straight down the road. Turn the wheel to the right and the car goes—straight down the road. Multiple turns would work. My mechanic swore the car was undriveable; but I drove it to work every day. You also had a good view of the road through the holes in the floor.

My first car was a 1966 Buick Skylark 4 door all steel no plastic a gift that I was very grateful for. But it had a weird sense of humor…stop at a light and die…will not restart till all four tires were on dirt. As a 5’ 100 lb female this could be very inconvenient.

And how did you explain the dirt theory to Click and Clack?

When I was between husbands I had a car that lost its reverse gear, so I had to be very careful where I parked it: I had to be able to drive straight through or drift downhill. The lock fell out of the glove box, so I kept it in the ash tray. The speedometer cable broke, so I judged my speed by how fast other cars were going. The last day on my job I got my first ever speeding ticket. I was almost proud of it. I didn’t think the car would go that fast.

I had a ‘55 Buick that I bought for $35 (my first car) that had a hole in the muffler, a key broken off in the driver’s side door, and wouldn’t engage the brake until the second pump… And I loved that car!

Didn’t they fix the truck with the money Agnes got from selling her guitar?
