You get water; your Mom will get something else before she goes back to bed.
You want soda Calvin, figure out a way to stash some in your room — and if you want help, consult Dennis Mitchell on that!
Put a couple of shots of (cheap) bourbon in his “branch water.” That’ll put him to sleep!
Is a little sparkling burgundy too much to ask?
Has Calvin ever tasted gin????
A glass of 1975 Barolo , please
For someone who knows how to do so much and get into trouble doing it, you would think Calvin would go get his own water and create some sort of chaos.
You were expecting champagne?
Strange. In the second box, Hobbes is a stuffed toy. Normally he should be alive when he’s alone with Calvin.
Lousy tippers get lousy service.
No doubt he wanted a vodka martini, shaken – not stirred.
Mom looks like she fell asleep standing on her feet!
I think he wanted a beer.
Would you like it on your head, or in your lap, Calvin?
The way his mother must be feeling at that moment, he should be lucky it’s just water.
Someone wants to be hyperactive in the morning.
It’s fresh spring water (fresh from the kitchen faucet…….)
The second frame is one of the few times Hobbes is “not alive” when alone with Calvin.
She should pour the water on his head.

You probably don’t put anything in a good cup of coffee either, except Bailey’s ;-)
You are spot on; however, as with a good steak, a “good cup of coffee” is not always available…
For those who are unaware, “branch water” is clean water from a stream, or branch of a river; or basically unadulterated plain water…
What did he expect? Root beer?
Consider yourself blessed that it is not a bucket of ice cold water!
Mom is in the room, Hobbes goes into stealth mode.
Not counting normal life that lives in it both flora and fauna?
I believe this is a fair observation; it is water from a stream versus well or treated city water…
