My second husband was a college dropout working in a nuclear waste plant. We went to a Sunday school reunion dinner filled with PhDs and MDs, LLDs etc. When they asked what he did for a living, he replied that he was “involved in the nuclear industry” and didn’t flinch when they all assumed he was some kind of nuclear researcher.
