When you think about the two major breakthroughs in physics of the 20th century, and who made them, for quantum mechanics there’s:Bohr atomHeisenberg uncertainty principlePlanck constantSchroedinger equationDeBroglie wavesPauli exclusion principleWien’s lawFermi-Dirac particles

But when you think of General Relativity, there’s:Albert Einsteinand that’s it.

What’s going on? Why can’t we get back to daily life? Like Gene and Mary Lou? Where’s the boat? Something besides junk like this.

The last few weeks, when reading the comics and I get to A&J, it’s like hitting the “snooze” button on the alarm clock. Wake me up when I can proceed to the next comic on my list.

I read that it was Einstein’s wife who actually had the ideas, and that after they split up, he never had another original thought.

For Mrs. Einstein, was Albert “Mr. Right” or “Mr. ‘Always’ Right”?

Since Einstein’s 2nd wife died in 1936, she’d need a Seance to have been saying Anything to him.

@wcorvi“But when you think of General Relativity, there’s:Albert Einsteinand that’s it.”.Regardless, his explanation of the photoelectric effect supplied foundation of quantum mechanics..His thought experiments and objections advanced the field greatly...“Albert Einstein never won a Nobel prize for the theory of relativity—in fact, it was only through long, political jockeying within the Nobel committee that he won the prize at all. Instead, when he was given the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics (in 1922, after a long bout of internal Nobel hand-wringing), he received it primarily for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. Extraordinarily enough, he came up with both his relativity theory, and the photoelectric effect in the same year: 1905.”

One of Einstein’s problems was that they figured they could never test it.Curvature was proven relatively quickly, it took atomic clock accuracy to detect time dilation, gravity wave detection took 100 years or so.It’s good the Nazis rejected Jewish writings and drove Jewish scientists to their enemies, slowed them down in their world conquest and strengthened our ability to resist.
