If Bernice’s exhaustion appears blaséShe might well catch some eyesA person who thinks the best is okayIs sometimes a disguised prize.Eliza was once pronounced a royalAs may be a sleepy Bern.Being ignored can make interest boilAnd cause lofty heads to turn.

If this plays out more like a fifties flickThen Luann will have cause to singOr perhaps her joking will do the trickAnd lead to a surprising fling.

If the night is destined to be badShe will encounter mention of a prickly lad,Or perhaps even see the cad,But i’d rather a new one than bad cad lad.

Now like Bernice i must close my eyes.Tomorrow perhaps there will be a surprise,Or maybe their night will take several days.I need some sleep now either way.

Club Foote might not really be the “celebs” place tp be seen as Luann is describing to Bernice. Might simply be a hookah lounge where artist and theater-types hang out.

That was thoughtful of Luann to get dressed before waking Bernice to give her more nap time. She will enjoy though it is probably really LOUD in the club.

    Famous for what exactly?

A GLAMOROUS night club? or A glamorous night club?

    Celebrities according to whom?

You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon your point of view.

Hope they have fun at Club Foote (what a name). Will they be able to get in though? Not because of the time, but because of the crowd. I bet either or both will meet very interesting characters of course, and possible new love interests. Should be interesting.

JPuzzle…. yesterday, you replied to me that you were being serious about your dislike of the use of the term “Club Foote”. This is in reply to that name:To my way of thinking, I really did not see an association to the disorder until folks brought it up here. For me, the spelling “Foote” is IMO reason enough to disassociate the club’s name from the medical condition. Foote is a relatively common surname (think Shelby Foote for instance). It could be used in that fashion. Also, a club where there is dancing would seem to be a legitimate use of Foot (or Foote) being illiterative. So, I guess to me, thinking the name is in bad form… does not fit in this circumstance. There are several non-medical condition ways this name could have been meant, and so for me, anyhow, it does not seem an insensitive or problematic name choice.

Okay here people are worrying about clubfoot — which i can atest did not prevent me working w wild animals and both prospecting and assisting in a study in the jungles of Suriname in the 70s — when at the same time multiple people here have a much worse and avoidable handicap.

Of course, i am referring to the people who purposely post nasty and hateful posts.

Usually, those posters are going to be 12 to 14 year old boys who are having trouble maturing and are screaming for attention so they can competitively count the replies, i.e. Flame Baiters. Of course, being twelve to fourteen is itself hard but most people mature past that. Sadly, a few of the Flame Baiters and Trolls appear from their writing to be older than 14, yet still engaging in hatred of people or places, insults without foundation, and cries for attention in any way they can get it. That is a horrid handicap.

Their chosen behavior is a terribly serious handicap, sadder still because there are constructive ways to avoid or stop it, especially when the brat behavior is from someone older than 14.

locake said, 8 minutes agoToday’s strip makes it very clear that L and B are doing everything Pru tells them to.-

They do need to spend more time actually thinking.

When i was an adult student i recall an 18 year old one just repeating some claptrap a prof had said that day. Once a person thought about what was said, the statement made no sense and there were multiple reasons why, so i sat down with him and went through points one by one, and after a while he was thinking and adding more on his own. Two days later he presented the list to the prof who exclaimed “Finally!” and added that it was about time someone began thinking because he was fed up with freshmen who behaved like recording machines.

It is so typical for the age, though, isn’t it? Whether being scholastic, or joining some group, or whatever, the late teens and sometimes the early twenties is a common time for “follow the leader”, with following that lacks questioning and lacks seeing the problems with the proffered postulations and propositions.

So “army wrestling” or “banana splint” would not suggest anything other than the literal meaning, I guess.
