Ah the irony of timing with today’s strip. Of course it wasn’t intentional since GoComics is running them in the order they were originally published. But it is ironic that they should run a golf strip on Peanuts Begins just three days after Arnold Palmer’s death.
Since this is a ’52 strip, did Charlie Brown encourage Palmer to turn pro two or three years later?

Don’t worry. It’s a par 32, so it’s only a bogey.

Schulz admired Sam Snead and name-checked him a couple of times in the late ‘50s or early ’60s. (Schroeder: "I’m going to be the Sam Snead of music!")

Ben Hogan popped up in “Peanuts” a time or two, also.

Snoopy the golf pro once referred to his bird admirers as “Snoopy’s Squad,” a play on “Arnie’s Army.”

Sigh… kind’a reminds me of my golf scores!
There was a time I bowled and played golf almost every week. If only I could’a reversed my scores, I’d been good at both…

High score wins, right?
So THAT’S why I haven’t won any golf matches lately!
