Lupin: Local artist creates magnetic masterpieces! Lupin: Take it away, Tommy! Tommy: Quite the stir here in a local kitchen, Lupin, where one cat is hard at work! Tommy: Gifted artist, sensitive visionary, and top notch best friend material: Sophie, how do you do it? Sophie: Not now, Thomas. Tommy: Not now, Lupin! Sophie: There. Wait. ...There. Sophie: Wait- Tommy: Sophie, what would you say is your favorite medium? Sophie: I work in magnets, tin foil, and found objects; exploring the delicate balance between beauty and chaos. Sophie: I call it: Mixed media modernism. Tommy: All M words, Lupin! Tommy: How long can we expect this installation to be up, Sophie? Sophie: Until I sweep it all to the floor or the Woman closes the fridge too hard.

Sophie has a Buddhist take on the temporary nature of all things, art included. I once visited a work in progress by Tibetan monks. Over seven days they created a huge, colorful mandala out of sand. On the final day of the installation it was intentionally destroyed. Thus, a work of art that persists in memory and a sermon on impermanence and detachment. I think cats, in their feline stoicism, are onto this truth.

This is an important refrigerator magnet in any cat’s home.
They’ll always do the “She forgot to feed me” routine. Their acting ability deserves an Oscar.

My cats kept stealing the fridge magnets, so I bought some little plush animals with magnets in their feet to put on the lower half of the fridge door for the cats to play with.
