55+ years ago when I was a teenager, I worked for Western Union delivering telegrams from their downtown office all over the city on bicycle – a lot of miles to deliver a single telegram. So in the interest of historical accuracy: (1) Never got tipped. (2) Never read a telegram to anyone (and no, that’s not why I never got tipped; reading telegrams to people just wasn’t done).
