the mall in town has a pet adoption place in it. While shopping sat, my sis and I went in. All kinds of cute puppies and kittens sleeping until this one gray kitten. Every time I walked by, the kitten turned upside down to look at me, I’d walk away and it would get up. I’d walk back by and back it went, upside down. Almost, just almost ended up with a home.
Beware adopting from anywhere accept a real shelter. those cuties in the glass cages can have a few drugged out specimens. Real shelters get them cared for, recovered and placed for security.
Sorry about the “almost”, Monkey. You ALMOST got a great friend. Those hardly even count in horseshoes.
Monkey - that kitten would have been a best friend! We adopted 2 rescue cats last year (sibs, a boy and girl) and they are loving, wonderful friends and need minimal work. There’s the little challenge of clipping toenails and brushing teeth - but that’s easy once you figure out the “kitty burrito” with the blanket. Not that expensive either. I have a neighbor’s son come in once a day when we’re out of town, and he loves playing with the cats too. Lion and Mousey are some of our kids best friends now.
I’ve had a few of those “almost” moments too, Monkeyhead. Mine are all stopped by my severe allergies to cats, but it doesn’t stop me from looking and longing. I love kitties, but their fur/dander/saliva doesn’t like me.

I still have the cartoon of Spock when Dean tried to get to close to him and his catnip - it is hilarious!
