When I grow up...
Boy: Well, the commercials make it look so appealing. Mrs. Olsen: I'm more interested in setting goals than enjoying the inevitable. Boy: I think I know why she's so unhappy. Frazz: I think shaving is a fine goal.
I haven’t shaved in about 30 years, with the exception of trimming around the edges of my beard. I keep it very short now, but I looked like this 29 years ago, and I haven’t seen my bare face since. (I had pink eye at the time, so my eyes look odd.)
The beard used to come and go, but the mustache has been steady since college. My son (now 30) saw pictures of us when he was a baby and couldn’t remember me with a beard at all.
Began 67 years ago like my Dad with brush, shaving mug and soap, and Gillette blue blades. Now it’s canned lather and four bladed ‘wonder’ tool. As in I wonder why I didn’t ignore all that hype and stock up on blue blades, soap, and brushes to go with my old shaving mug.Still a very satisfying way to greet the day.
I recall reading in a book of anecdotes where a man said that he once asked his father, “Daddy, why do you shave?” Daddy looked at him for a full minute, said, “Why the h… do I?” threw his razor out the window, and never shaved again.

Hey, it’s not inevitable if you turn out to be good at growing a beard.

Don’t rush it, kid. by the time you’re 50 you’ll be so tired of shaving you’ll be considering facial laser hair removal.

I remember wishing that. When I was 12 and the barber put shaving lather on my neck and used the razor, I knew I had become a man!

Shaving is overrated. And a waste of time. Let it grow!
