This reminds me of bumper stickers I saw during the Gulf War, “I support our troops, but not the war.” I wondered just how you support the troops without supporting the war. Put ribbons & bumper stickers on your ride? How does that support the troops in any material way? You can’t separate the troops from what they do. Just more doublethink.
Republiklans lovez their “strength” and “decisive” actions. Remember GWB proclaiming he made decisions, hard ones? What he didn’t understand is he decided things badly. What Dump’s supporters are responding to is a guy telling them he’s strong and has simple solutions to complex problems. His supporters are afraid of the new times and see enemies every where.
The Dump’s base remember a mythical time when they were in charge. They didn’t have to consider anyone else. Now, everything seems strange; direct competition with foreign countries, foreign people (“Kenyans”) rule and more and more people who don’t look like them are around.
Dump is an emotional response to their fear and inability to adapt to new circumstances. And for decades the Rs have fed and used that fear. They got elected to office, built fortunes and took over communications with it. They are only reaping what they sowed. They have become what we originally rebelled against.
The only Republican policy I can detect is to declare each other to be the sorriest, most evil, posers and misfits imaginable. If that’s the policy, I have to admit Trump’s the master. Not that he’s a Republican, of course.
All of which begs the question: Do narcissists have Character, or does narcissism consume Character (defined as a set of values one adheres to because of their intrinsic value regardless of any personal gain or loss.) Never mind. I must answered my own question.
Of course he has a policy: build a wall, and force Mexico to pay for it; deport 11,000,000 Mexicans; stop the Pacific trade agreement; shut down NATO; ignore Russia and praise its leader, the homicidal Vladimir Putin; force U.S. businesses to bring their factory work back here (I thought Republicans were all about free trade), add $10 trillion to U.S. debt, and insult people at will, for a few examples. Wake up, Stantis—you do have a serious choice to make here—a qualified, though justifiably controversial, Hillary, or a caricature, an unserious blowhard and showman. We can’t allow the Republican choice to lead the country. It would be to our everlasting shame and make a mockery of the United States.
@Night-Gaunt49@Darsan54My point was I cannot separate T-rump from his policies. After the convention and the party’s platform, for this election, is established, the Heir Apparent will have official policies. Even if I can support these policies 100%, I cannot, will not support T-rump.My apologies if I confused anyone with my Gulf War analogies.
Right, because Afghanistan and Iraq were really necessary wars; one is now a peaceful democracy and we found so many WMDs and cheap oil in Iraq. But, since bush chose to start both wars, they were definitely successful. (eye roll)
