No, worse, he was “dumb”, as the name states in Spanish.Never seen Lone Ranger comics, but I think in one of the not so old movies it was stated he was given that name by some Spanish or Mexican missionares because he refused to learn the new language. He was obviously playing dumb.But that is a modern interpretation, and it could be originally just condescending.
