Rob is right, it is a skill and his mother has every right to be proud of him (don’t be a jerk, Paris).

If he made a painting of a picture frame, which contained a painting of a picture frame, et cetera, that would be art.

When I want a picture frame I go the Dollar Store.

Now that’s a loyal Mom — still proud of Rob even after finding out he’s friends with Rat.

It is a skill. If I could make frames beautiful and subtle enough to compliment quality paintings, I’d be proud too.

I picture a fight in the near future.

My grandfather on my father’s side painted pictures and made his own frames. In fact, one of them is hanging above our front door. My uncle has one of them on his wall above the stairs. My dad even found one of his frames in a thrift store.

We all have skills, Rob. Mine is a Skill Saw. I’m not overly proud or touchy about it like you are, Mommy’s boy.

And a marketable skill, at that.

Have you ever priced those things?

When I first read the strip I thought the guy said “It’s still a skull!”I was like “Huh?” And had to reread it.

I don’t know how museums assign their framing work, but if a major museum always using the same framing shop, that would be a pretty valuable contract.

At least he’s not a cartoonist.

If I wanted something specialty framed, I hire a pro.

i was framed once. but got me a smart lawyer like pastis. than i got 20 years. (just kidding)

Selecting the right frame is an art in itself. . A mediocre painting is often enhanced with the proper frame. The frame is better than a lot of the art it frames.

in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, often the frame is the best part of the thing hanging on the wall.

“He’s my boy, and I’m PROUD of him!”

Some frames are a lot more artistic than the supposed art work they contain.

I know someone who works in a business that makes frames for high end art. You’ll see his and his company’s work in many galleries and corporate offices. It really is it’s own form of art.

Rob seems a tad touchy

It’s as easy as 3-4-5! And, I’m proud to say that I build my frames to cover the graffiti in the lower corners.

And here I thought he was s picture hanger.

Good for him! If you’ve achieved your dream then it doesn’t matter what anybody thinks.

I’m a framer…when people find framed art with my label on; they buy it…. regardless of the art

Cartoonists get hung in museums, too. —Though they are quick to cry, “I was framed!”Anyway, Rob and Mom, calm down. Goat did not disparage your accomplishments; all he said was “Oh.”

I have a friend who makes really cool custom frames and sells them online.

Actually making picture frames is highly skilled job. And those good at it can make the frames nearly as much of an artwork as the paintings themselves.

I’ve seen frames that look better than the pictures they frame.
