Cartoon-Boy Stephan and his ex-wife Staci* have an enduring financial bond. If his book prospers, she prospers. It’s just that she can’t stand the thought of being seen with him, the lout!

*[Not to be confused with Real Life Stephan Pastis and his wife Staci, who are still happily married, as far as we know.]

Staci, If you are reading this, we understand. I can’t conceive of the horror of being subjected to terrible puns around the clock in your own home.

Even if Stephan hadn’t pointed her out, Staci would probably attract attention due to the fact she has a bag on her head. What, was a mask too expensive?

Thank god she didn’t give him the Spock Salute. It stands for, in Romulin: Your politics are wrong; Your career choice is wrong; Your whole family are morons; Your choice of car and color are wrong; May your house devalue to zero; Your religion is wrong; You and your wife look like The Elephant Man. Your parents really could afford to send you to that Ivy-League College, but decided to buy a yacht; Your dad bought an Edsel and you bought a Tesla Self-Driving Electric Car; and, finally, you live between a busy RR and a Boiler Factory.

In Britain, of course, they use two fingers. As someone described it once, the symbol denotes victory from the front, rude defiance from the back. :-)

Why is Rat on the cover? Surely somebody more deserving should be on the front.
