Joanie: Rick, I know you love Jeff as much as I do. So why don't you seem as torn up about not being able to spend time with him? Rick: Well, it may be because I'm spending a whole lot more time on family than my father did, and you're spending far less time than your mother did. Consequently, you feel incredibly guilty, while I naturally feel pretty proud of myself. I think that's all it really amounts to, don't you? Try to get some sleep, babe...

@Thuja and your reference for your statement is from where exactly, an outraged womens lib meeting?
(is there any other kind?)
Must be interesting devoting your time to reading comments, trying to find the misogny in an example of casual violence of a woman towards a man.

Jeff Foxworthy has a great routine on this. His wife is paving the driveway and he calls out to tell her he helped by emptying the ashtrays and now he’s going to take a nap!

Rick does have a point there. Everything is relative. (Of course I understand her reaction too. heh heh)

Some women gain an inch, and some men stamp their feet.

Good point Rick. But old-fashioned, and to be honestI don’t think Joanie was ever meant to be a mother. I mean that in the best way. She’s much better as a career woman. Women find fulfillment in a number of ways – some are excellent mothers, while others are better at, well, channeling their energies in other directions. I am one of the latter, but unlike Joanie I recognized that at an early age.

What would possibly justify him having violent thoughts? He’s the traditional male, less is expected of him, and he’s supposed to be rewarded if he does one dish for his wife who works as hard as he does in a meaningful job. If he raised the lamp like that, it would be for no reason but entitled rage.

Thuja said, @Bruno Zeigerts“Men get off with much lighter sentences for violence towards women than vice versa. Even when it’s pretty clear the woman’s life was in danger.”.Sad how few are interested in truth. We poor, mistreated men generally receive 63% higher sentences than women. This is especially sad when most domestic violence events begin with women striking men..Oh well, part of the price we pay to let women in our lives...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/men-women-prison-sentence-length-gender-gap_n_1874742.html.“A new study by Sonja Starr, an assistant law professor at the University of Michigan, found that men are given much higher sentences than women convicted of the same crimes in federal court.”
“men receive sentences that are 63 percent higher, on average”

libp68 said, @chuckcork1“More than 10,000 women are murdered by their significant others – husbands or boyfriends – in the U.S. every year”.No interest in truth?According to.https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-1.in 2011 there were only 12,664 homicides total, of whom 9,829 were male, 2,813 were female and 22 they couldn’t determine.
