BMBG Exclusive! According to a source who cannot be named because he is not authorized to speak to the press, the good doctor is a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, has read all the stories, and knows everything about the famous detective. The source claims that the doctor has told him that he has long wished to actually meet Mr. Holmes someday.

“Holmes?”Okay, this is all getting thick, so I’m going to take a little vacation, and come back when he meets Annie in the hospital, or barring that, when he becomes Dick Tracy again.Vista Bill & Company, you’re stronger men than I.

I kinda had an inkling. The pipe guy, when he showed up, was just to obviously English and old school. Watson?

Our English speaking Field Medic sees the “Great Dectective” in Dick. I’m questioning if it is the real deal or Abner with his nefarious scheme gone astray?

Yes, this man looks like Watson, but what if he’s Moriarty?

Anyone know where Mr. Bold Sydney is? I miss his hard to decipher posts. It been 4 months since his last. If radio BVeedo had any clout they’d be able to solve this mystery.

Youd think that instead of running a radio show that “the legendary Vista Bill” would be consoling his gothic honey bunny in her time of need heh heh

Well, Tracy WAS crafted by Gould to be an American version of Sherlock Holmes, so…

I’m suspicious of a “savior” who increases the drip and keeps Tracy unconscious rather than explain to him where he is and what happened.

“The Man Who Liked Doyle”

Googling, a LinkedIn account for a Sydney Phillips in Trinidad turns up, but you need to be a LinkedIn member to join it.

Sydney Phillips’ other account (same name in CAPS), was last used two months ago. SYDNEY PHILLIPSHope he is well. I had the pleasure of visiting Trinidad and Tobago a few years ago and enjoyed it very much.

That Sydney seems to have used his own name and general location makes looking for him a bit easier, but I’m not turning up much information.

For the record, searching the Trinidad & Tobago white pages yields two results for Sydney Phillips, if anyone wants to field the overseas charges on a whim.

Okay. There is definitely something off about this Sherlockian doctor. Indeed, as a media critic, I must severely chastise our own BMBG for too hastily referring to him as “the good doctor.” He may not be so good at all, if he intends to keep Tracy on a (morphine?) drip and make him into a Holmes-surrogate for the sake of his own delusions, or worse!

I was wondering, on yesterday’s strip if this guy knew which way to hold the suture needle. Now I’m even more suspecting if he knows who to give the IV too.

Last week I suspected this guy wasn’t up to any good. It’s looking like I was right.

I hope Sydney is OK; he is without doubt Matty’s #1 nemesis. He could light Matty up like a firecracker with a single-word comment.

I think its time to cue the Dream Sequence.

As one or two other commentators had noted, this plot development is reminiscent of the Annie debacle from a year or so ago. Joe & Mike seem to be stealing from themselves now, and that can’t be a good sign for the creative vitality of the strip.

Dream sequence commences
