Mom: Careful, Alice, we're going down a hill now. Alice: I am careful. I got tired of sitting in the stroller. Mom: I'll bet you did. You were a cute baby once. Now I'm glad you're a cute four year old instead. Alice: Being a baby was boring. It made me tired. Alice: Carry me. Mom: Alice!

And just how is your mother s’posed to carry you AND grocery bags at the same time, Alice?

And why didn’t she put at least one of those in the stroller? And why didn’t she hold at least one hand on the stroller herself, trusting fully a four-year-old instead?? Unless it was a plot by her to ger the stroller broken so she wouldn’t have to push her ever again (and yes, instead carry her AND grocery bags – as I said several strips ago, bad planning on her part, to walk to grocery store together with a 4yo when she wanted to buy so much stuff).

If Alice keeps that up, her mother is going to consider a leash.

I guess we can say bye-bye to the stroller now, eh, Alice?
Some of my earliest memories are of me pestering daddy (mostly him rather than mommy) to “carry me up!” Sometimes it worked….

I once took a 5 year old fishing off a bridge over a small creek and since I cant swim tied a close line around his waist. He was very insulted but he couldn’t swim either.

Love the use of the trees in a continuous flow of scenery to demarcate the panels.

oh my goodness Paha_siga. If mom had done all you suggested this would not be funny. Having raised a precocious 4 year old, I can so see myself in this story.. That is the essence of humor.

Plus you have to trust your kids and give them responsibilities at some point. I remember when Mom decided we were old enough to cross the Busy Street alone (rather than stand on the far side and yell for her to come cross us). Of course, these days we wouldn’t have been turned loose alone on the far side anyway.
