Morrow wishes to put us to the test,Then, I’d have some questions for Bill and Gweedo
Yes, YOU would !! -I am sure that is her real face, in all its tear stained splendor ! .Good morning, environmentally explosive Bill and Patton supporters !
Well, that was an explosive ending. I didn’t care much for the scenario but that was dynamite artwork the last few days. I think this was a good way to end it, though. Rikki’s still alive and might be of some use giving some info about Bribery. It’s good to see Pat get in some action for a change. I suspect it’ll be awhile before we find out what really happened to Kadaver. Unless some last minute surprise comes up I’d say this story is over.
Morrow has apparently taken leave of his senses and uttered this to DaJellyBelly and I overheard,…I can envision Gweedo putting on his white lab coat already.
“JellyBelly, why don’t YOU take her into custody? I don’t trust Gweedo or Bill in that endeavor. I can envision Gweedo putting on his white lab coat already.”_____________________________We could hide her north of the border- got some pretty good rehab programs maybe we could get her signed up for.
I like how Mike added this quick tale about Rikki and her failed quest for revenge as the denouement to the wider narrative. Disposing of Abner (at least for now) while leaving Rikki at large would have left me feeling the story was incomplete. Plus, Joe’s art was fantastic as always. Kudos all around!
Oh great! Now we’ll have to endure next years story where Abner who YET AGAIN escaped death by some unexplained method helps his beloved Rikki escape from jail.
The drawing of the Chief kind of feels like a vampire rising from the grave. Great, dramatic shot.Side note: Kenneth Robeson was a house pseudonym, and the writer of The Avenger was not the writer of Doc Savage. Doc was written by Lester Dent; The Avenger by Paul Ernst. (When you’re already writing a novel a month, you have enough to do.)
Pat Patton, showing he’s no slouch when it comes to making the big collar too! Second panel alone should quell ANY fan’s idea of Pat getting soft in his advanced age.
Bravo Sir Patton, well done old chap!
BTW, anyone else think Rikki is gonna turn on Bribery in some sort of plea bargain?
Just had a thought… what if Rikki has info on Tracy allowing Blackjack to escape after he shot Abner way back? perhaps it was pillow talk between Rikki and Abby and he mentioned that he probably would have gotten away with killing Tracy if Blackjack didn’t interfere? If I recall, Abner had cameras set up in the area where that cement trap was set up… then again, if he DID youd think he would have come clean with the tape earlier and sent it to the lovely and oh so unbiased Wendy Wichel (just how much money in settling libel lawsuits do you think she costs her network anyway?!?)
As I said before, Abner’s reappearance next year to bust his bird from her cage without at least a snippet of an explanation as to how he went over Viagara falls without a barrel might be a DELIGHT but it certainly won’t be as enjoyable as a Chicken Delight! LOL!
With all this speculation about Rikki talking to the police about Bribery, let’s not forget that she can tell them about the existence of Matty. She could try to tell them that this…“thing”…came on her computer screen and took control of her vampire mechanique. Will the police believe her?
The art is so good today. I’d be tempted to feel sorry for poor, sweet, lovely little Rikki—if she weren’t a homicidal maniac. The appearance of Chief Patton in panel 2, god-like, emerging from the mist, is really powerful. And taking Miss Mortis into custody opens an avenue to speculation. Will she sing? Implicate Bribery? Identify Matty? Even tell tales of Abner? Or will she maintain the Code of Silence and ride out the trial-road to life in the big house? If so, will someone spring her before she’s 64?

Wouldn’t it be funny if Rikki was wearing a mask, too?

Well that’s not gonna make Bribery happy……not one little bit.
And that second panel is AWESOME.

Can I just say that the artwork over the last few days has been outstanding. Someone clearly cares a lot about Rikki.

Patton: Rikki Mortis, you’re under arrest"
Rikki: “WHAT? I can’t hear anything”

Rikki is certainly NO Abner

Tough times ahead for Rikki. Great to see Patton in the thick of things. More of the good stuff from Team Tracy.

What I meant about Gweedo putting on his lab coat (when she is taken into custody), is to accompany his stethoscope to check her out.

Maybe Rikki will share a cell with Sprocket and they will together plan an escape. Abner will return in the Zombie Apocalypse, I think…TBC

Wow, that second panel. The art overall was above board; I could see Rikki’s pain on her face. I almost feel sorry for her… almost.
