These snarky remarks would never have been allowed (or even thought of) when I was in school. Maybe that is part of what is wrong with schools these days.

Aside from that, I was NOT born in this country, but would rather live here than anywhere else. I appalls me, though, to see how poorly people speak and/or write the language. Even news people who should know better, use poor grammar.

The expression “pardon my french” comes from mispronouncing the French word for “urinate;” pis. It SHOULD be pronounced “pea”.

I love the story of a man who was in a queue in shop over heard a dark skinned woman talking to someone on her phone in a language that was not English. When sh finished he ignorantly said “This is America if you want to speak here speak English if you want to speak Spanish go back to Spain or Mexico.” The lady turned to him and said I am NOT Spanish or Mexican I am Native American and I was speaking Sioux. If you want to continue speaking English then go to England"

Back when I was in high school there were approximately 600,000 words. There are many more added every year so one can pick and choose the ones one wants to use, blast it all.
