Dress Barn has nice dresses without being terribly expensive. Bridal Barn might turn out to have the perfect dress. I am anxious to see what the designers come up with.

Well, there’s a real life store (and also is without any ‘harvesting ambience’) named “dressbarn”, and also “dressbar”. Perhaps it’s the “Luanniversal equivalent”, but for said “matrimonial purposes”. – And, maybe in “the Greater Pitts School Board Zone Township”, it helps that they’re right next to “The Shoe Silo”… – Or an enterprising middle manager could start to work on it…

I think that Luann isn’t so much trying to “up any stakes/expenses”, but is just really a “rookie” when it comes to these sort of things. It may be Toni’s first (and hopefully only and lasting ) marriage, but she has probably realized “dreamy-eyed storybook weddings” are just that- “dreams”, and is aware of the realities of "life after the wedding’. – And since there has been at least 20 years of marriage (if not more) between Nancy and Frank, and having had more life experience, I’m sure she is really seeing the opportunity to step in to help Toni out, any way that she can. – In fact, this could likely be a keen moment of bonding, between she and Toni…

I love Toni’s response. Playful, respectful, and sincere. She completely lacks pretension—refreshing.

So what about Luann’s (and Gunther’s) dress?

Maybe Luann’s trying to find one that matches the bridesmaid dress she already designed and had sewn, since she did so without knowing what the bridal gown was going to look like and they have to match.

Gunther’s point about California coppers earning $102,000 per year interests me. I would guess the inflated salaries reflect California’s MUCH higher cost of living. An LA flat-foot probably needs to live within commuting distance of his job? You’re a pauper in Los Angeles if you’re getting by on anything less than six figures. Go stand in line for a free bowl of soup and a cot.

What Nancy MEANS Toni, Is that She is Gonna have Luann ‘Sweet Talk’ Gunther into Making Your Wedding Dress, Which in Turn, will be Designed by One of the Strip’s Rapid Readers, All- For-Free. So Don’t Get Too Excited Because it AIN’T Costing Nancy One Dime.

What I REALLY Wanna Know Is, Are YOU Gonna Toss the Bridal Bouquet after the Ceremony? It’s ALWAYS Fun Watching the Single Ladies TEAR Each Other Apart Trying to CATCH It, Thinking that by Doing So, THEY Are Next.

Boy these attempts to make literal pay comparisons between what firefighters get paid in different parts of the country, and what the DeGroots income in in a totally fantasy world, aka Luannverse. Relax people, remember its a continuing story told in comic panels, so one does not need to literalize (my new verb, so poop!!) it.

2It is nice for Nancy to help with the cost. I am not sure how common/uncommon such a thing is today, however in families. I guess from a traditional standpoint, if the person getting married is young, her family would traditionally pay for the dress. If so, I guess that is very nice of Nancy, especially given that Toni’s parents are deceased. But, these days it seems more and more buy their own dress? Or am I mistaken? I really tend to stay purposefully out of the loop when it comes to this sort of thing. I am glad that Toni seems excited about the experience, and am glad she is not as “uninterested/overwhelmed” as she was about the planning of the other aspects of the wedding. Luann, however, still seems to be more excited about the wedding dress than anyone else, which is interesting. As a guy, I am not sure if this dress selecting week will end up being one of my favorite weeks of “Luann”…. but I am sure Greg will do a good job and I will read what he does.

Foreshadowing for Nancy on what it will be like to go wedding dress shopping with Luann when it’s HER turn….

btw, can’t really figure out why he’d cite Star Trek Fans Unite! anyway … must be a rabid fan. Or something else.

One only has to watch a few episodes of ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ to realize there are quite a few bridezillas out there who are willing to spend some serious $$ on a wedding dress. Of course that is in NYC, not your average mid-America. And there is always an entourage of family members and friends. Some of them are quite touching and ‘real’. Others are really OTT. Some are actually spending 5 figures for a dress for the ceremony and more for a dress for the reception/party after. Really? What a waste IMO.

Here’s an inexpensive solution – Toni & Louann design the dress and Gunter sows/makes it !!!!

Nancy needs to be clear about what she means by “help with the cost of the dress”. Will she give her $50 or $1000?

I like Toni. Very simple tastes, laid back, not a fussy girl.

Am I the only reader who would actually like to see Brad and Toni get married in their working firefighter gear? (See the latest 9-11 strip this past September.) Until the bridal gown design contest was advertised I thought that might actually happen due to a fire emergency happening on the day of the wedding…

Luann is a shopping machine, getting down to business. I am predicting that either everything is too expensive or Toni won’t like any of the dresses; or maybe both. Gunther will come to the rescue… again.. maybe the one simple dress she likes is very expensive and Gunther says that he make that same dress for a lot less.

Luann needs to get over her obsession with treating Toni’s wedding as if it were her own! It is not at all an endearing trait.

Wish Greg would return to The Flame – or whatever it’s name is and let us see Leslie go to jail when they catch his fingers in the Til or cash register (so to speak)…. this wedding crap has gone on too long.

Might be the fact that I am a life-long bachelor, but, I’ve never understood what the big deal is about wearing metal and stones and, especially spending thousands on a stupid diamond!

They no longer cope w paragraphing, blank lines, even spacing normal to some regular punctuation marks. The in-house URL did appear, though. It attached itself to earlier text because of the other problems. Fixes tried appeared the same. People might need to avoid punctuation more complex than periods, question marks, and commas.

Well, if I can’t post images here, WHAT is the point? THANKS FOR STEALING OUR FUN AND CREATIVITY!! (I guess I’ll try some of the other comic sites! Killjoys!!)

Part of the fun being here was putting up and seeing images (including prior strips) different commenters would post here. I hardly think I will renew my “PRO” status next time. I have good ad blockers to clean annoying things up well enough on my end.***Well, do any of you know any other good comic sites, with Luann? Cause GC has just shot itself in the foot, so far as I’m concerned!

Unfortunately, they are making themselves on even footing with ArcaMess with the options they offer for posting. The trolls are moving in and the things that have helped promote a good community feeling have been quelched. As I said, I will think long and hard before I renew my “PRO” status. As Mikey said, they have shot themselves in the foot. . Earlier, I signed out and brought the site back up wthout signing in just to see the ad status. With my adblockers, it did not look much different.

Interesting, I tried to make that one post, but when I posted it, the second part was missing. It was as if I was limited to so many characters. I refreshed the page and tried again, same results. So I had to make my post in two parts. Anyone wanna try a long post? .Seems to me I predicted this earlier…

The challenge now, with the limitations, will be to avoid being forced into middle school writing habits. Heck, most trolls already have those, so why would anyone else want them?

The sad thing, is that in so doing, all the force of peoples’ points will have the effect of “sails without wind”. People will need to express themselves and remember to “cut it off” and continue in….

I remember many of us used to be able to post the actual embedded YouTube vids, as well. Glad I wised up back then, and cooled it on doing that…
