I wonder about us when the fate of the most powerful country is not worth driving a couple of blocks for.

What if I wait until the election is final, THEN vote?

What about proxy voting? If you decide not to vote, give your “marker” to someone who is. That way the voter could vote as many times as he had markers….

It is critical that people vote because voting signifies that you accept the legitimacy of The System. Y’know, the party/media/government apparatus that makes candidates vanish by refusing to give them air time, gives all the convention delegates to the guy who never got more than one-third of the primary votes, allows one candidate to purchase the votes of the “impartial superdelegates,” excludes third parties from “debates” (along with questions on substantiative issues like climate change), effectively throws away nearly half the votes in every state on election day (thanks to winner-take-all allocation of electoral votes), assigns different value to votes from different states (one Wyoming vote is worth approximately four New York votes), records votes on electronic machines whose software is a “trade secret” and not verified by any independent agency, and when things are too close allows a partisan supreme court to pick the winner. When you vote you are signaling that you are OK with this system. Keep that in mind…
