Why are they doing this? Look at the Sept. 13 strip – TJ is telling the wedding planner what sorts of table settings they want, and he is negotiating the price. They are paying a professional to handle these things, so why did this wedding because an arts-and-crafts exercise like the ones that Luann supervises for the kids at Lincoln Elementary?

Gray is boring? If your uncle finds out about the siphoning of cash you have done, I’m sure Uncle Mr. Gray will be anything but boring.

    .

Of course, we could be wrong about him. The poor guy might have been augmenting his income to buy his ill mom a decent pair of shoes for Christmas, like in the song, “The Christmas Shoes”.

    .

    .

    Nah…

I personally prefer periwinkle to gray or a combination works.

I thought Brad had identified the colors he wanted used. And then TJ and the owner of the Cottage 4 2 agreed on different colors. But none of them, to the best of my recollection, involved gray or periwinkle…

Realistically, Les would not be involved at all. He has to work at the cafe, but isn’t obligated to do anything personal for Brad etc….

Les will be an usher and scam the guests out of more money for HIS children, which by the way hasn’t been mentioned by anyone as of yet. What happens to that?

Why is Les there again? He ‘s not a friend of Brad’s or Toni’s. And who’s doing the work at the Fuse while everyone’s at the house?

I’m expecting to see Toni and Brad, shoulder to shoulder with Smokey the Bear, battling fires, and what do I get? Martha Stewart’s Craft Club.

    .

Very good punchline today! I like the goal of “harmony” being juxtaposed with the individual goals and fussing and griping. It seems a very apt analogy for a lot of family life, a lot of community life and a lot of national life.

    .

Seismic… while TJ (or whomever) is paying for a professional to do a lot (if not most) of this work…. the idea of family and friends making some aspects of the decorations is not that far fetched. Even with a professional wedding planner, I have seen receptions that incorporate family made crafts into the planner’s scheme.

    .

Argy… while you may be right that this is some sort of scheme by TJ… I am hoping it is not so…. and I do not currently get that sort of “vibe” from what is going on at the moment. My thoughts on TJ are that while he has had “sketchier” moments in the past, when I look at his overall track record of the more recent past, I think those sorts of “borderline nefarious” actions are definitely on the decline. I like that (how I read) his character is that he too is growing and maturing as a person. Will he always have over-the-top schemes and moments? Probably. But, my read is that these schemes and moments are becoming less troublesome and more helpful (not perfect, but more helpful).

Les must certainly be getting paid. He is not friends with any of these people and he is not the type to volunteer his time.

So far Les has escaped being caught, the more he does it the greater chance he will be. I can see Mr. Gray forcing him to pay double back at least.

More and more I find that the stories and characters are more like something out of Archie comics than the interesting strip it used to be. Ridiculous scenarios, unrealistic characters saying stupid things, plot lines and themes forgotten, irrelevant sidetracks that go nowhere. I’m not sure why I bother.

Who the hell gives a crap? Just enjoy the strip already. Jesus Christ on a Popsicle stick, must you complain about every single damn detail?

^^exactly… it’s a shame though, the man does make some really great comments, when he isn’t trolling!

Like how these two arcs are portrayed— while Toni & Brad risk their lives to save the world (or at least a tree and a house), their loved ones squabble about minutae. How true to life— if we’re comfortable, we fuss, fuss, fuss.

Why did they buy all the different colors if they weren’t supposed to use them? And what was that meeting with TJ and that woman talking about wedding decorations about if they weren’t supposed to use her?

I still fail to understand why Pru remains in this non-existent little town when she is a New Yorker who wants to work in theater and prefers women in a place where lesbians are something you hear about on cable tv….

Also, the settings tend to NOT include centerpieces. Those are separate. Setting negotiations typically involve the china, silverware, and crystal, or instead involve the dishes, flatware, and glasses depending on what was negotiated.

Okay, the scam of the fire fighters was on either side of Oct 1, 2007.

    .

which clearly shows the scam artists involved at that time, nine years ago our time, and though I have not checked i think it is likely about 3 years ago in Luanniverse time.

Well, all three hold the exact same opinion (namely that their own work is good, and the other two’s isn’t), so yep, we have perfect harmony here! ;p

After my step-mom’s passing i wound up with some of my grandmother’s furniture and tonight for the first time in over 50 years that table has a small holiday tree on it.

    .

Tonight we opened the Ronnybrook Farm Eggnog. Steve and i are sipping ours. Kessy remembered the word and was trembling happily as soon as it was mentioned. The young ferrets did not wake so she enjoyed her treat in peace then licked her chops while wagging her tail.

Will the wedding actually happen? Will Luann have a date? Did anybody actually send out any invitations? In lieu of invitations, will Pru and crew work the wedding? Will Gunther and Tiffany spend New Year’s Eve together? Is there any mystery about Mr. Gray’s history?
