They will be there, but we might not be able to see them for the light pollution.

FWIW, if you go from Mirach, second left, and look past the star to its right, about the same distance again, that’s the location of the the Andromeda Galaxy.

This doesn’t matter at all, but since astronomy has been brought up — this star image looks upside down, at least for “before 6 PM”, which is the time indicated in Monday’s cartoon. The image would be OK for about 2 AM (looking northwest). But Jimmy Johnson isn’t bothering with this kind of detail — on Tuesday, they were looking at Orion, about as it would appear (in the southeast) at 11 PM. In December, Orion does not rise until well after 6 PM.

Some see just one star, and it’s not Polaris.

The stars are changing place, slowly. In a few thousands years the sky won’t be the same.

Your job, Arlo, should you choose to accept it, is to go and warm up her butt.

I wanted to buy a $3000 telescope about 20 years ago. My wife said, “You want to spend that kind of money on something we can only use at 3:AM while standing in an open field, miles from civilization, freezing our butts off?” I don’t think was on-board with the idea.

I have a Seasonal Star Carts too, as my comments on Orion’s belt would show.

By the way, the First Amendment restricts the power of the federal government to limit the freedoms of citizens.

The Fourteenth Amendment extends those restrictions to lower governments such as states, towns, cities, counties, school boards, et cetera.

    .

Individuals are not included because that would restrict THEIR rights.

    .

Personally, I favor letting all speak up and identify themselves as whatever they are — fool or sage.
