    For those asking how to “erase” a stone or clay tablet… just read Exodus 32:19. I think that is the best known example.

    It’s okay for stone, but the question was for clay.

    When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.)

    For clay, you dampen the clay then just rub it with your hand or a trowel or anything you wish.

    The clay tablets we have were probably turned to brick by house-fires or such, not on purpose.
