And, no, it’s not thousands. It’s about 25 per year, almost all of them under one year old and therefore not using it as a “toy.”

Don’t worry, Lennie. Those are the people that need that warning. They can’t take a joke. They’re also the ones that need to be told their coffee is hot

Apparently there are people who need to be told to remove a frozen pizza from the box & wrapper before putting it in the oven, too.

Make an effort to read the long list of cautions packed with a consumer power tool and you will discover warnings that appear unnecessary because of the clear hazard of foolhardy use. Manufacturers do not spend money to employ cartoonists to write imaginative manuals. Think instead of the appropriate response that a business should take to prevent repeated product liability suits. The seemingly needless warning on the plastic bag is the reasonable response to avoid paying claims that a successful only because the defendant has deep pockets.

I understood what you were trying to say. Another one that I’ve seen that proves people aren’t quite smart enough to figure these things for themselves is one time I saw a jar of peanuts and on the label it said “Warning. May Contain Nuts.” DUH!!!

Wow! My comment became part of a comic strip. You feel better yelling, and I become part of your comic strip. Not a bad deal.

I only have my suspicions about you because of the way you insist on spelling “stupid”… ☺

I was one of the comments in the strip, too. The reason it came across flat to me was because the tags in the strip were on the items, not the packages they came in. That made it look like he was referring to the shirt. So I guess I’m the idiot, not Lennie. Wouldn’t be the first time someone has called me that.

Why do children put beans in their ears? Because the Government says no.

Lest we forget the warnings on hair dryers about the perils of using them in a shower. Yeah. Common sense about bags being a risk to children needs to exist because there are people who leave them available for small children to play with.

…and then they sue the manufacturer and win. Hence, the warnings.

What amazes me is how Lennie can work so close to “real time.” Before computers, cartoonists had to work 6-8 weeks in advance; their syndicates had to have the strip several days in advance, at least. So…how DID you do it, Lennie? Is it the trombone or the dead cat?

:) I understand where you were coming from, Lennie, but it’s amazing how stoopid or careless some people are and including regarding their children.
