I know a dangling participle when I see one, and I don’t see one here.

No participles were dangled in the making of this strip – Peg is wrong.

Oh! Your son found it and is wearing it as a hat.

There is no dangling participle.

If something else is dangling, it isn’t a sentence part.

Some piously picky people prefer not to split phrases such as “where is”,

but the meaning is perfectly plain.

So Peg is incorrect.

No, that’s OK…. you tell her.

I will pretend I don’t know to what else Peter refers….

Do I know what? Yes, Peter needs underwear for his dangle!!!

In winter, wouldn’t there be “shrinkage” ?

No dangling participle there. My favorite one of all time shows up on On Demand TV: While WATCHING this show, fast forward may not be available….. Nothing in the rest of the sentence that WATCHING can possibly modify. Ladies’ blogs with recipes frequently have something like “when boiling, add the….. whatever.”

Put any old underwear on and don’t leave anything dangling.

The correct question should be, Do you care?
