Why? Sylvia seems to have turned out okay, in spite of you two.

For “grandparents” read “unpaid babysitters”.

Those are “earls” of wisdom.

The best part of all is that you get to spoil them, fill them with sugar and then send them home. ;-)

Being a grandparent means we are too soon old and too late smart. I love being a grandparent. Oh, to have had this wisdom and patience back then.

Grandchildren are said to be grandparents revenge on their children. Payback is awesome.

I don’t think that is possible.

Grandchildren are God’s payback for having to have kids.

To skip the parent part, marry someone who already has grown children.

The reason you are great grandparents is because you were imperfect parents! And I’m guessing that helps you enjoy your grandchild better. Parents are rather hobbled by needing to raise responsible mature people, who are not egocentric, selfish or sociopaths. Obviously there have been some failures in that department. But anyway, I think most grandparents earned the right to enjoy their grandchildren. And us great Aunties as well!

Luckily, I’m not a parent.

And even luckier, I’m not a grandparent either!
